Lady Vagabond's Briefcase for Belinda Basson DT

My project for Belinda Basson's Design Team for Stamperia this month is a briefcase for Lady Vagabond using some of Belinda's newly released products.  All of the Stamperia products I used are listed at the end of my post.

I have condensed the photos.  I started with Stamperia Stone paper A3 size.  I crumpled the paper over and over, gently spritzing with water each time, leaving it to dry and then doing it over again until it was wrinkled enough to resemble old leather.

I attached the stone paper to an MDF briefcase from my stash, it is quite big at 14" x 10" by 2.1/2" deep, using Stamperia Colla Gel Glue. Once dry I painted the whole suitcase with Allegro Paint in Earth colour. 

I moved to the inside of the case and covered the whole inside with Lady Vagabond White Flowers Rice Paper, securing it with Colla Gel glue. I love this glue, it is clear and dries clear and can be used for sticking and sealing projects.

Next, I took a piece of Stamperia Rice Paper - luggage attached it to white card, but out the luggage and glued it to the inside of the briefcase.  I also added some frames and pictures from Belinda's new range.

I used a couple of Belinda's new moulds to create the handle and locking mechanism and also the dials that I placed on the front of the case.  The handle and locks were painted with Stamperia Allegro Paint in Brown and Metallic respectively.

The cogs on the front of the case are Belinda's Greyboard Gears, I gessoed them before painting them in a mix of Earth and Brick Red paint to give them a rusty appearance. I set them aside to dry.  

I created the lock and handle with two of Belinds's new moulds, painted them and attached them to the top of the case.

I added the Rust Effect Rice Paper to the top left and bottom right of the case (front and back) using Colla Gel to glue and seal it, before adding the rusty cogs to the front of the case.

The gauges were created using another of Belinda's new moulds, I painted them in dark brown paint and then dry brushed them in brick red paint to highlight the details.

I didn't want any bulk on the back of the case so I simply added more rice paper to finish it off.

The finished case the perfect size to store my very large collection of Stamperia Rice papers, I love it!

Belinda Basson DT - Lady Vagabond Christmas Baubles

My project for the Belinda Basson Design Team for Stamperia this month has Christmas in mind.  I created two large baubles using Stamperia products, all of which are listed at the end of this post.

The first step is to wash the baubles in soapy water, dry them thoroughly and then apply a coat of Stamperia Mixed Media glue to the base piece of the bauble only, and allow to dry. This will give the plastic a 'tooth' so that further products will stick and stay put.

Apply a coat of Glamour Paste in Turquoise and allow it to dry.  Add the paste up to the rim but not on the rim so that the bauble will close easily.

Time to apply the glitter!  Apply a coat of Mixed Media Glue and then generously sprinkle the Glamour Sparkles (Turquoise) whilst the glue is wet.  You need patience at this point (I don't have a lot), let it dry thoroughly and then tap off the excess Sparkles.  You can put these back in the jar for your next project.

For the right hand bauble (below) an area of 'snow' was created with White Glamour Paste, sprinkled with Glamour Sparkles in White.

Next, add two of the Lady Vagabond chipboard pieces, raising them up with hot glue, silicone glue or several layers of double sided sticky pads, whichever is your preference.  You want the chipboard pieces to be level with the top.

Add a small amount of glue around the edges of the baubles and attach the top, leaving them to dry thoroughly.

Finally, apply some velvet ribbon to the edges of the bauble, attaching a bow to the top.

Do the same with the second bauble.

At this point I regretted not trying harder to fit lights to the baubles, I just couldn't get the balance right and the wires kept showing.  But, I didn't give up as I hate to be defeated!  This bauble uses the new Lady Vagabond Lifestyle chipboard pieces and I did my best to disguise the lights by creating a 'window's edge of snow' using the White Glamour Paste and White Glamour Sparkles.  I added a small pocket at the back to hold the battery pack.  Whew, not perfect but I love it all the same!

Belinda Basson DT - Lady Vagabond Book Nook

It is time to share my monthly Belinda Basson Design Team for Stamperia project and I cannot begin to tell you how much fun I had creating it! 

For many years now I have wanted to create a book nook but frankly did not know where to start!  So when I saw that CoolKatz have designed a kit, I knew I had to make one for Lady Vagabond.  The period style properties suited Lady V so well (in my mind anyway!).

A book nook is literally a miniature world that you tuck into a book shelf between your books.  If it lights up, it just makes it so much more interesting.  A strategically placed mirror at the back makes the 'street scene' look never ending...

The wonderful Stamperia products I used to decorate the book nook are listed at the end of this post.

Here is Lady V outside the pub named after her, all packed up for a trip on her beautiful airship.

It was great fun building the kit, I used Stamperia Allegro paints and Stamperia Rice paper to decorate the house and pub.  To create the illusion of leaded windows I used a permanent black pen on acetate.

I used the Lady Vagabond 8" x 8" papers to create some mini books, that were then placed in the bookshop window.

For the window above the bookshop I added a doll's house sewing machine, just for the sake of authenticity, even though it is hard to see once the book nook is fully constructed.  I know it is there and it just made me happy!

The floor of the book nook was created with Stamperia Cream Paste and I used the end of a knife blade to create the cobbled effect.  Once dry I applied Stamperia Allegro Paints to give it worn cobble colour.

The Lady V sign over the pub was created by hand from a piece of card.

Once the book nook is filed away in your bookcase you don't really see the outside but I wanted it to have a finished look and I used the Lady Vagabond 8" x 8" papers and they fitted perfectly.

I placed Lady V (Stamperia die cuts) and her luggage in the opening to the street scene so that she would not get lost inside.  Lady V's cat was stamped onto Stamperia Shrink Plastic sheeting with archival ink.  Once shrunk she was the perfect size to sit alongside her mistress.

A final view of the book nook, I just love how it looks all lit up!  I really hope you might consider making one of these, they are so much fun and they would make a wonderful gift for any avid reader.

Belinda Basson DT - Exploding Box

My project this month for the Belinda Basson (Stamperia) Design Team is An Exploding Box.

I used Stamperia Lady Vagabond papers, moulds, paints and chipboard to create the box and all of the items are listed at the end of this post.

I wanted the box to hold quite a lot in the middle part, so I made it larger than the standard 4" x 4" sized box.

To make the base I used black cardstock that is 16" x 16" square, the centrepiece is 4" square and the sides each measure 6" x 4".  You would normally cut away the 'side' pieces but I wanted the box to be quite sturdy, so I simply cut away the corners so that it would fold in properly.

I covered each of the outside and inside pieces with Lady Vagabond papers.

Each of the inside sections contains a different scene.

Top left:  I added some chipboard pieces, mounted onto black cardstock.

Bottom left: The frame is made with a Stamperia mould and painted.  The Sir Vagabond chipboard pieces are mounted onto watercolour paper.

Centre: I created a bookcase from cardstock and mounted books that I fussy cut  from the Lady Vagabond 8" x 8" cardstock.

Right:  I mounted the pieces using chipboard pieces from the Lady Vagabond chipboard set.

The centrepiece for the box is made from Stamperia moulds, using resin and painted with Stamperia paints to create a rust effect.

I created the top, in black card, just slightly larger than the base at 4.1/8" square and covered it with Lady Vagabond papers.

The cogs on the top were created using a Lady Vagabond mould and painted with Stamperia paints.

And finally, here is a view of all four sides of the box.

I have never made one of these boxes before but I enjoyed this one and will definitely be making more!

Belinda Basson DT - Lady Vagabond Airship

My project for Belinda Basson's Stamperia Design Team features Lady Vagabond's wonderful Airship which I have contained in a large frame.... and it lights up too!

I was inspired by my friend Jo who suggested a 3D airship and I took five sheets of the Lady V 12" x 12" paper pad, fussy cut each airship and layered them up to create some dimension.

I cut some of the windows out and added some rusty wire mesh behind to emulate the look of the original windows and this allowed me to add some tiny lights behind the windows.  I edged each of the pieces with Distress Ink to take away the whiteness.

To create the 'waves' I painted some white card with Stamperia Glamour Paste in Turquoise before cutting it into a wave shape.  I added two layers so that I could add the 'message in a bottle' that Sir Vagabond sends to Lady Vagabond....

I turned my attention to the frame, first covering the frame with Stamperia Allegro Turtle Dove paint, then applying a coat of Gold Glamour Paste and once dry I added a coat of Stamperia Crackle Paste which added some wonderful texture.

I added some texture paste to two of the corners using Belinda's Lady Vagabond stencil. I painted the flowers with Allegro paints in Turquoise, Nature Green and Corn. I added Stamperia metal gears to the bottom of the frame.

Next, I added Stamperia Cerantica Ancient Wax in Gold to the whole frame.  It did dull down the flowers on the corners but it was the look I wanted.

I used Belinda's Lady Vagabond stencil again, along with Stamperia Glamour Paste in Turquoise, to add the sentiment to the backing paper.

Finally, my favourite part, I added some tiny lights to the back of the airship before attaching all the pieces inside the frame.

Belinda Basson DT - Lady V Steampunk Jewellery

Another month has passed and it is my turn to share a project created for Belinda Basson's Stamperia Design Team.  I had great fun creating some jewellery for Lady Vagabond to wear.

This first one is one of four pieces I created and I have to say it is my favourite (I do love dragonflies).  I created a 'bust' to display them on, details of which I will share at the end of this post along with details of all the Stamperia products I used.

For this first one I used Belinda's Stamperia Keys & Locks  Mould  to create the key in resin.  Once ready I covered the key in Cerantica Ancient Wax - Copper.  I used some copper wire from my stash to fashion the wings of the dragonfly and backed these with Belinda's White Flowers Rice Paper.  I attached the wings to the key with more copper wire, adding some decorative details to the key before hanging the dragonfly on a chain.

The second necklace was created using Belinda's Chipboard elements in the form of the cat and trunk.  I placed these in a metal pendant from my stash and added Stamperia clear Crystal Resin to encapsulate the chipboard, and then added some chain elements to finish off.  

(Note:  before adding any chipboard or paper elements to a Resin piece they should be 'sealed' with a matte medium on all sides to prevent warping and discolouring once the Resin is added).  

This third piece (above) was perhaps the easiest of all.  I used Stamperia's Atelier Frames Mould to create the pendant from resin.  Once set I applied Cerantica Ancient Wax in Turquoise and then added some Cerantica Metallic Silver to highlight areas.  Lace was applied around the edge and I finished off the back with some plain card to hide the lace edges and the metal pendant fitting.

My final piece was created using a Sir Vagabond Greyboard Gear, simply painted in brown and then I added some large and small Stamperia metal gears and some chipboard clock faces.  I added these to both sides of the pendant so that it looks finished from the front and the back.

For the bust stand I created a simple pattern from white card and then transferred this to heavy black card and cut it out.

I drew a bustier shape and cut this out in some calico fabric.  I glued the Stamperia White Flowers Rice Paper to one side using some fabric glue from my stash and once dry I machine stitched some shaping into the bustier and finished the top off with some bias binding to give a neater finish and glued the whole piece to the card bust.

I hope Lady Vagabond will be pleased with her new jewellery!
