Frida

 Hello Friends

The Guest Designers at AALL & Create this week are creating cards.  I just received a DT package with some new stamps and stencils and the Frida stamp by Janet Klein seemed the perfect choice to go with my new goodies.

I used all of these goodies to create my little 6" x 6" card.
Hands up, I had to Google how to draw a Hexagon.  Once I had my template I traced it onto some watercolour cardstock and then cut out my card shape.

I used Scattered Straw Distress Oxide to create a background.
I used my new stencil Heapza Hexagonz (#112) and Scattered Straw Distress Oxide to create a background pattern before accenting this with stamp #384 - Lined Hexagons by Bipasha BK using Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide.
I stamped the beautiful Frida - stamp #377 by Janet Klein onto a separate sheet of watercolour card, coloured Frida with watercolours and then fussy cut her .  I used Autour de Mwa's fabulous new Washi Tape to create a grounding for Frida.
I used another fabulous new stencil - Hugely Hexagonal #108 to trace a Hexagonal shape and stamped my sentiment and two tiny paint tubes using the Frida stamp set.
I coloured the sentiment with watercolours before attaching to my card.

I decided to add a little more stencilling in the top right corner by using stencil #95 - Sunrise by Janet Klein.  Finally, I edged the card with black marker pen.
Here is a close up of the beautiful Frida.

Worldwide stockists for the stamp, stencils and washi tape I used on this project can be found HERE.

Thanks so much for your visit, I really appreciate it and hope to see you again soon.

In the meantime please keep safe and well.

The Crafter for AALL & Create

Hello Friends

Well, here I am, twice in one week, with something completely different to my last post!

My Guest designer project for AALL & Create this week is a mini album created with a wooden spool bobbin.
I used The Crafter stamp set by Janet Klein, together with the Paint Your Dreams stamp set by Tracy Evans, the newly released stencil - Lotza Trianglz by Autour de Mwa and an A3 size piece of watercolour card for the album element.
I cut a piece of the watercolour card to fit the spool.  I used Distress Inks to colour the strip of card and stamped the elements I wanted along the strip.  I used the Lotza Trianglz stencil and Texture Paste to add some detail and then coloured the elements with watercolours.  The Crafter was stamped, coloured with watercolours and fussy cut.  The spool was gessoed in white.
I added some stamping to the reverse side of the card and coloured with watercolours.  The spool was painted with Distress Paint in Picked Raspberry.  I made a little sign for the top, using a cocktail stick wrapped in thin wire, along with a scissors charm.
For my closure, I attached a small button and a piece of elastic.
Here is a view from the top. I added the sign, scissors and a paper clip to the top of the spool with some 3D glue.

You can find a list of worldwide stockists of the stamps and stencil I used HERE.

Thanks so much for your visit, I hope to see you again soon.

Keep safe and well.  Hugs, Anne xxx

The Earth Laughs in Flowers - AALL & Create

Hello Friends

I am not really enjoying the heat here at the moment but it is wonderful to see all the beautiful flowers in our garden, they inspired me to create a mixed media board featuring AALL & Create stamp set #149 by Tracy Evans and stencil #51 by Autour de Mwa
I started gessoing a media board measuring 6" x 8.1/2".
I stamped Tracy's Checkered Nature stamp in the middle and added a little random stamping to each side.  I drew in two further flower stems using a black marker pen.  I also stamped several more flowers and fussy cut them.
I applied a wash of watercolour ink over the board, in blue and green, let it dry and then applied texture paste through the Batik stencil.
I used watercolours again to colour the front and back of the flowers.
After layering up the flowers (two on each), I added some Glossy Accents to the flower centres.  Finally I used gesso to apply some splatters in white and black.

You can find a list of worldwide stockists for the stamp and stencil I used HERE.

Thanks so much for your visit, I really appreciate it!

AALL & Create Project 2

Hello Friends

I am pleased to share with you my second project for AALL & Create, a large tag.  Autumn is one of my favourite seasons and Tracy Evans' gorgeous large flower reminds me of my favourite Autumn sunflowers which are still in abundance at the moment

The products I used from AALL&Create are:  A4 Stamp #109, by Tracy Evans, Stamp #6 by Tracy Evans, Stamp #45 by Tracy Evans and Stencil #39 by Autour de Mwa.  These are available from a list of suppliers HERE.

I started by covering a tag with gesso and then a random coat of crackle paint.
Once dry I gave the tag a coat of rusty colour paint, followed by a layer of blue and let this dry.  I lightly sanded the top so that some of the rusty colour would show through.
Next, I stamped the flower onto tissue paper, cut it out and painted it from the back with acrylic paint.

I attached the flower to the tag, stamped a second centre and raised it up with some silicone and used one of Tracy's trademark designs - thread, to add another texture.
I added a butterfly from one of Tracy's earlier release of stamps and used a clock hand as a body.
I always like to add charms to chunkier tags, I stamped the flower onto shrink plastic, coloured it with markers and then shrank it down, it makes a lovely sized charm.
Here is another look at the completed tag again, where you can see the stencilling I did on each side using AALL & Create Stencil #39 to tie my elements together, and the sentiment I added.

Thanks so much for your visit, as always, I appreciate your comments.  I hope to see you again next week, if not before, if I can fit in a Halloween project.

Hugs, Anne xx

AALL and CREATE weekend...

Hello Friends!

Firstly, I must apologies if I have not visited you, I have had two very busy and wonderful crafty weekends away, lucky me!

This weekend I visited That's Crafty in London for the first leg of  AALL & Create's World Tour and what a fabulous weekend it was too!  I just wish I could have continued on to day 3 too!  It was worth the seven hour journey there....

Out of respect to the individual designers I cannot share any of the details with you but I hope you enjoy seeing the creations we made.
My first class was with the hugely talented Tracy Evans who taught us some amazing techniques (with her own wonderful range of stamps and stencils)  to create a beautiful textured tag.   I am totally in love with this tag!  Tracy's enthusiasm is very infectious!
The afternoon class, also with Tracy saw us using beautiful bold colours to make two different styles of accordion cards.  Lots of inky, painty and stamping goodness!
Day two was spent with Aida Domisiewicz (also the owner of 13Arts) using lots of Aida's exclusive 13Arts products and Aida's AALL&Create stamps and stencils.  I was totally out of my comfort zone making this beautiful project but I loved every minute of it!

As well as meeting up again with the adorable Autour De Mwa (Abs), it was so lovely to meet more of the AALLandCreate Designers, Aida, Olga Heldwein and Fiona Paltridge and of course my dear friend Tracy Evans.  I felt like I was in the presence of Crafting Royalty - thank you to each and every one of them for making the weekend lots of fun, I have not laughed so much for ages!!

Along with learning new techniques, meeting up with crafty idols, it was incredible to meet wonderful new friends too - Gayna Hurst, Donna (Ragdoll), Tina Thompson-Theis and so many others.  Laura Holland and Graham ensured that the whole weekend ran smoothly and of course the shop was a huge temptation!  Huge thanks to Laura and Graham!

AALLandCreate stamps and stencils are available worldwide, you can see a full list of stockists HERE.

I am adding project 1 to The Mixed Media Monthly challenge (sadly it is their last one).  Project 1 has thread wrapped around the butterfly and string wrapped around the wire at the top.

Thanks so much for your visit, I hope to see you again soon with a new
