Hello Friends
Well, here I am, twice in one week, with something completely different to my last post!
Well, here I am, twice in one week, with something completely different to my last post!
My Guest designer project for AALL & Create this week is a mini album created with a wooden spool bobbin.
I used The Crafter stamp set by Janet Klein, together with the Paint Your Dreams stamp set by Tracy Evans, the newly released stencil - Lotza Trianglz by Autour de Mwa and an A3 size piece of watercolour card for the album element.
I cut a piece of the watercolour card to fit the spool. I used Distress Inks to colour the strip of card and stamped the elements I wanted along the strip. I used the Lotza Trianglz stencil and Texture Paste to add some detail and then coloured the elements with watercolours. The Crafter was stamped, coloured with watercolours and fussy cut. The spool was gessoed in white.
I added some stamping to the reverse side of the card and coloured with watercolours. The spool was painted with Distress Paint in Picked Raspberry. I made a little sign for the top, using a cocktail stick wrapped in thin wire, along with a scissors charm.
For my closure, I attached a small button and a piece of elastic.
Here is a view from the top. I added the sign, scissors and a paper clip to the top of the spool with some 3D glue.
You can find a list of worldwide stockists of the stamps and stencil I used HERE.
Thanks so much for your visit, I hope to see you again soon.
Keep safe and well. Hugs, Anne xxx
Hello Anne
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say how lovely your bobbin is. You may just have inspired me to get back to making them.
I’m happy to say there are many reminders of our time together in my studio and you can tell David the clock is still going strong haha.
Love to you both xx
I soooooo love this bright, beautiful, gorgeous bobbin mini book! So clever and the cutest, brightest mini album ever! I am going to have to do some creating with Janet's characters today, you have inspired me my friend ! It was fab chatting the other day. Take care and stay safe. Hugs xxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteHi Anne, The spool is fantastic - I think we could all do with one on our desks. I have just covered a empty fruit tin for my sewing nook.... I think I need one inspired by yours for my crafting desk BTW ...small world... I have met Lynn Holland at workshops at Anne Brooke's in Brighouse.
ReplyDeleteSending love, take care, Andrea xxx
My goodness! This is totally delightful Anne. Such an adorable and fun piece. Your crafting spool is just gorgeous and such a clever idea! I absolutely adore this! xx
ReplyDeleteWhat an innovative idea Anne, you are so creative and inventive! I love your eye catching pink bobbin album with the adorable ‘little crafter’ image and accompanying crafty images. A happy piece of artwork that made me smile.
ReplyDeleteHugs Lottie xx
OMG, she's my super hero! I love her and her little sign so much!! The whimsy is incredible and so is your imagination, Annie! Brilliant and fun! Hugs, Darnell xxoo
ReplyDeleteOMG! I'VE never seen a bobbin mini book! Your creativity is so inspiring! I can't believe that the distress ink covered so well on wood- did you prime it? Really looks like acrylic ink.
ReplyDeleteThe experience is so fun, watching the ink and paper come alive!
Thank you for touching my creativity ❤
Hi Susan, thank you for your lovely comment. Yes, I did prime the bobbin with gesso and I used Distress Paint and not ink to cover it. With the gesso it only takes one coat of paint to cover it. Hope that helps! Hugs xxx
DeleteOMG you're bobbin is so adorable. Have to hunt for a few of those :) Wonderful inspiration:)
ReplyDeleteLove the bobbin roll - it's adorable. As you say, a completely different style to the vintage book for SSS, but your versatility shines in both projects.

This is amazing Anne, so different, but still so you! Take care and have a very happy weekend, Sue xx
ReplyDeleteOoo Anne that was quite spooky, I was just popping over and your comment appeared!! Now that's physic.. Love this little creation, with it's bright picked raspberry bobbin, really captures the fun and spirit of it all, I can imagine the sweet girl continuously saying I make things haa haa!! The little touches of texture from the stencil really adds to it's continuity. Not made one of these for an age, may need to find out those bobbins.. hmmmm. Those top embellishments balance it all so well my friend. Another stunning creation Anne your an inspiration to us all..
ReplyDeleteHope you are keeping well and that the weather isn't too hot for you, stay cool, I know you are anyway HUGS Tracey xx
This is fun and quirky Anne! Love the succinct "I make things" - well yes you do, so so well. Terrific make! Nicola x
