Simon Says Stamp - Designer Spotlight - Week 2

Hello Friends

I am still pinching myself!  This is week 2 and my second project in the Designer Spotlight at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!  Thank you so much for the lovely comments last week, both here and on Facebook, I really do appreciate it!
The new challenge for this week is 'Sprinkles and Splatters'.
'

I went all grungy, using products by AALLandCreate, Tim Holtz, Dina Wakley and Ranger.

I gathered up all the products I wanted to use, those products available from Simon Says Stamp are listed further down below, with links.
I love the Tim Holtz Etcetera Tags, they take a lot of product!
After stencilling on the tag with Ranger texture paste I painted the whole tag with Turquoise paint and left it to dry.  I added a coat of Distress Paint over the whole tag and wiped some off straight away with a damp cloth, removing paint until I was happy with the background - a technique I learned from my friend Tracy Evans.  It really highlights the embossing and tones down the turquoise colour somewhat.

The products I used from Simon Says Stamp are listed below.
AALLandCreate #45
Tim Holtz Etcetera Tag - Mini
Dina Wakley Acrylic Paint - Turquoise
Tim Holtz Distress Paint - Vintage Photo
Ranger Texture Paste
Ranger Embossing Powder - Copper
Ranger Distress Crayons
Ranger Crackle Accents

To create the magnifying glass I used AALLandCreate Stamp #64.  After stamping I fussy cut it and used Ranger Embossing Powder in Copper and then Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder in Vintage Photo before touching it up with Distress Markers in Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo.
The butterfly is from AALLandCreate set #45, I cut it out and painted it with Dina Wakley paint and then overstamped with the script stamp from Set #64.  I used the same stamp to randomly stamp on the tag itself.  I cut some corrugated card, added a couple of layers of patterned paper, stamped the 'look deeper' element from set #64 and added the stamped magnifying glass over.  I added some Crackle Accents to create the 'glass'.

For my 'Sprinkles and Splatters' element I added some tiny beads from my stash (make unknown)  at the bottom and I splattered lots of paint over the whole tag.
I added some rusty wire and crinkle ribbon from my stash to the top of the tag.

When I create these larger tags I do like to add a hanging embellishment so to finish off. I added a vintage magnifying glass which I 'rusted' in the same way as the magnifying glass on the tag itself.
It would be lovely to have you join in this week
Each week there is a fabulous $50 gift voucher on offer!

All the of the products that I used, which are available from Simon Says Stamp
are listed above.
Thanks so much for your visit, I hope you will visit the challenge blog to see the wonderful creations that the talented Design Team have made too, you will not be disappointed!

Tim Tag October 2016

Hello Friends!

I just want to say a huge thank you for the lovely comments on my haunted house, my witchy cabinet and also my simple die cut cards in my last post, I really love making Halloween/Autumn projects and I do appreciate all of your lovely comments!

I was so thrilled when I saw Tim's tag for this month, which you can see HERE.  This month's Remix is Patchwork Collage and Sizzix Monster.

I don't have the monster die but I do have the Zombie and I have used him to create my tag.
I followed Tim's instructions to make the background.  I applied the Distress Collage Medium - Crazing  with my finger, which Tim suggested, it is much better than using a brush as it leaves no brush marks and gives you more control over where to put the medium.
You can see the crazing a little better in the picture below.  I love how the cracks appear when you rub in the Distress Crayons.
For the Zombie I used the Cobweb embossing folder to create the texture on his face.
To finish off I added staples, the Idea-ology skeleton and the word band.
I am adding this to Tim's Tags for October.

As always, thanks for looking, hope the Zombie has not been too scary for you!

Make a Wish...

Hello Friends!

I am trying to keep up with journaling as I have two lovely journals that I rarely touch, one is a Dylusions one and it is really big (which is what puts me off - all that white space!).

The theme this month at Creative Carte Blanche is Sun, Moon and/or Stars.  Yvonne asks
for one or all of them, so I decided to create a journal page - a really big one!

I chose to use the moon and some stars for my page.
I cut four pieces of the Tim Holtz Birch Tree die and carefully pieced them together, they measure approx 10" x 7".  I gave the piece a coat of Picket Fence Distress Paint and then applied some Pumice Stone and Hickory Smoke Paint with a cut up credit card.  I applied it in patches to try and give the appearance of Birch bark.
I created a mask for the moon. For the background I used a Distress Crayon in Chipped Sapphire, smooshing it quite heavily across a piece of white card, which was prepped with Gesso.  I lightly spritzed the crayon and moved it around with my finger.
I took the mask off and used Tim's Stripes Stencil over the moon and sky and wiped off some of the crayon with a baby wipe.  I used a small paintbrush dipped in water to remove some small dots to form the 'stars'.
Before attaching the Birch Trees I added a tiny bit of glitter to the moon to give it a bit of shine, sadly this does not show in the photo.  I attached the Birch Trees using some thin foam pads to raise them slightly over the background.  The words are from Tim's Big Chat words.
I decided a bit late in the day to add some 'ground' colour, using a Distress Crayon in Vintage Photo.  Once I attached it to my journal page, I thought it lacked something, so I added this rabbit (by Crafty Individuals), also coloured with Vintage Photo Distress Crayon.
A final look at the completed page.

I am entering this into Creative Carte Blanche - Sun, Moon and/or Stars monthly theme.

Thanks so much for looking, hope to see you again soon!

Hugs, Anne xx
