There are prizes on offer, one from Tim himself and Mario who have a fabulous bundle of goodies for the person who is the Curiosity Crew's favourite. In addition to that, as this is an odd numbered week, the sponsor is the Inspiration Emporium who are offering a very generous $50 voucher, to one randomly selected individual, to spend in their on-line shop. You must work from your own personal copy of CCIII and you must not share the technique as that would be unfair to Tim.
This was, as ever, a bit of a challenge for me, only because I did not have any of the Stamps & Framelit sets, because I was not sure I would get a lot of use from them - well, let me tell you, I was so wrong! As soon as I saw the Skull Blueprint, I just had to have it and I know now that I will get lots of use from it. I love all things Halloween! I created a holder for pencils and crafty bits.
I gathered all my items together first:
For my base I created a box with an Artist Trading Block die and cut the lid off to create a container. I painted it black inside and out using Black Soot Distress Paint.
I used the Shatter stencil, mixing Texture Paste with some Black Soot Distress Paint and used it on white card, it makes a great cobweb.
Then I cut some picket fence pieces from the Halloween Shadows strip die and glued this all around the top of the holder. I curled some black wire, secured this inside the holder and attached a stamped spider on the end, his body is covered with Spiced Marmalade Distress Glitter. You can just see the spider, when I photographed him he kept bouncing so it is not as clear as it could be - sorry!
For the third side I mixed some Texture Paste with Ripe Persimmon Distress Paint and used the Halloween stencil (a gift from a friend) to add the words 'Spooky' and 'Ghoulish' and then attached a die cut bat which was covered with Black Soot Distress Glitter. You can see here how I 'broke' some of the fence to make it look a little less uniform.
I took some feet (a gift from a friend), coated them with Black Soot Distress Paint and glued them in place.
And here is the fourth and final side of the holder without the crafty tools. The eyes on the skulls are from my stash, I love how spooky they make the skull look....
Thanks as ever, for looking, I will be back later in the week with my Tim tag, which has been finished for ages but the post is scheduled as I am on holiday this week - cat sitting. I will try and keep up with all of your posts but if I miss any, it is because I am out and about enjoying the holiday! Hugs, Anne xx

ReplyDeleteAnne...what an adorable pen/pencil holder with a Halloween theme! Love your spider web sides. So cute and clever. Your skeleton framelit is darling....really love the spooky red glowing eyes. Isn't it amazing how those little feet add so much to this piece? They are an awesome addition! I also love the little picket fence at the top. What a great way to finish this little jewel off and give it even more of a spooky personality! Thanks for sharing this clever idea with all of us at CC3C. <3 Candy

ReplyDeleteAs you know, I do like a useful project and this fits the bill. Great job! I especially like the embossing paste through the stencil. I have that black embossing paste, but am too stingy to use it! You have inspired me!
ReplyDeleteThis ATB rocks! LOVE each side, and especially the gate up top! The skull and crossbones are wonderful additions! Thanks so much for playing along with us on the Framelits and Stamps Challenge at CC3Challenge!!!

ReplyDeleteThat is so cool Anne :D I'm not a 'fan' of halloween, nor anything particularly scary or ghoulish, but I can appreciate the art in something. Those feet are fabulous and the red eyes quite cool. ((hugs)) x
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm another one who doesn't care for Halloween but I love your idea of using the box for storing your crafty bits and you've certainly gone to town with the decorating - just keep that spider away from me ......... xx
ReplyDeleteDon't dare let DH see this...he will want this set of dies & stamps! He loves Halloween too and used to make a lot of cards for that holiday. I'm hoping he will this year too. Your box is (I can't say lovely!) very atmospheric! I always love reading how you do the processes and you have a wonderful scary boo-box to decorate for the holiday. Your broken fence was a terrific detail. I'm ok with the spider webs, the spider, etc, but that skull with the glowing eyes...brrrr! I wouldn't care to meet him on a dark night! As always, you have aced this challenge! Tim should HIRE you! TFS & Hugs. Off to catch a post I seem to have missed.
ReplyDeleteGreat project Anne. I love anything Halloween and Gothic and this is great. Love the eyes. Happy crafting, Angela x
ReplyDeleteSpookalicious Anne! Im glad u made this for your craft table as if it were on a bedside table it might make for some shrieks in the night! All your decorative effects are superb. Fab make,, beautifully completed by those gorgeous feet. Hope ur not getting the same amount of rain as over here. Nicola x
ReplyDeleteWoah, look at your scary skull!! Very nice work, lots of detail, lots of spooky. Love those stenciled words, too. Thanks for sharing on CC3C!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS, Anne!! Great minds create alike and we both used our Skull Blueprint framelits set for CC3#9 :) I love your tool container and I know the Curiosity Crew is going to love it too!! That spider on his springy tether--Fabulous!! Very fun elements, Anne! XOXO-Shari T.
ReplyDeleteI better get my cape and shoes to the dry cleaners - vampire blood is so hard to deal with and I do want to look my best. Sad news this year, I don't have a cat to ride on the back of my broom. Tink is getting too old and fat and Baby Girl is too chicken. Then there is Tom but he is still on the young side and I have not to be able to really tame him. I wonder if there is a rent a cat shop. It's good to see you are decorating your office. You are so original and do a wonderful job with anything you make. You know your spooky box could also hold your bat snakes. By the way - Mr. Skull's eyes are beautiful! ! Our special night will be here before we know it an I am no where near ready!!
ReplyDeleteSandy xx
