I have made (and blogged) my own style of tag holders in the past but when I saw Helen Allen's Tag Storage Project on her blog (HERE) I just had to buy the the plans from her Etsy shop and make one (well, two actually). For that reason I will not be able to give you step by step details as to how I put this together but if you like it, please visit Helen's shop where she has many inspiring projects. This project includes five full videos and over 20 pages of written text so it was very easy to follow.
This is the second one I made, I made a couple of mistakes on the first one in my haste to complete it and I am much happier with this one, if you click on the photos you can see a closer view:
Here it is empty, the front has a flap which folds down to get the tags in easier. The pole at the top holds the tags, it comes apart at one end so that you can feed your tags through. Helen designed it to take a standard No. 8 tag but the instructions include a holder for smaller tags too.
And here it is, full of my twelve 2013 tags. The papers I used to cover the holder have a sewing theme so I added a charm holder with a sewing machine, scissors and a pretty birdcage.
This shows the end more clearly, I did both ends the same and I have added pretty little crystal bead feet to the holder bottom.
Helen suggests displaying favourite tags at one end and this is one of my favourites from 2013. I would not have been able to make it without my lovely blog friend, the very talented Brenda sending me the appropriate die cuts, thank you again Brenda!
This is the first one I made, with gorgeous papers from Maja Designs. If you have not used Maja Design papers before I hope you will check them out, they are superb quality and the designs are gorgeous. Linda Coughlin sells a large range and the Funkie Junkie Boutique and her postage rates are very reasonable.

Filled with my 2012 Tim tags, the base on this one is slightly thinner than the other and I added some pretty blue beads for feet.
One of my favourite 2012 tags, added to one end. I made this one slightly bigger than the norm so it will not fit in the holder, unfortunately!

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed making these wonderful holders, they do take a few hours to make but they are worth every minute and it is a great way to display tags, they can be heavily embellished or left reasonably simple, like mine. The next one will be with Tim Holtz papers for my 2014 tags. Apologies for the photo heavy post but I hope you have enjoyed seeing the holders.
Take care, thanks so much for your visits and bigger thanks if you take the time to leave me a comment, I really do appreciate every one and always try to repay the compliment. Big hugs, Anne xx
Gorgeous holders Anne. These are on my to-do list and edging toward the top. I have som any tags (who doesn't? haha), so need somewhere nice to show them off. I have other holders but it's nice to go down a different route sometimes isn;t it. The papers you chose are gorgeous. There are so many tempting designs, I am trying not to look very often, the temptation is too much, haha. I must, I must, reduce my stash ;) xx
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to see these Anne. They well and truly live up to expectations and what a fantastic way to show off your gorgeous tags. Love the way you've embellished the sewing one and the little feet on the second one. Jenny x

ReplyDeleteHi Anne Thank you so much for sharing my links. I am so glad you had fun putting this together. Love your paper choices. I am a big fan of blues and browns. I too need to make another one for my 2014 Tags! It is always a thrill to me to see that my workshops work! Phew!!!! You have done a fab job. I am finishing off another workshop offering at the moment. I have interrupted myself with a variation on the original design and it has delayed me somewhat. All will be clear when I eventually post. Thanks again for sharing my workshop links with your friends. See you over at Tim's blog…….that reminds me not many days left of this month ;-) Hugs Helen x

ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea! I love this! It's both creative AND functional. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteSo much delicious eye candy to enjoy tonight. What a fantastic way to display all of your wonderful tags so they are handy for your own enjoyment & to show to someone visiting. I love the different themes you used for each holder, but especially the sewing themed one. Thanks too, for providing these interesting links, and I'll check them out. Glad to see you are getting back in the swing of creating, and I didn't think you MoJo had gone walkabout anyway! You probably still just don't feel up to full steam as yet, so just do as you feel motivated. Hugs & TFS. We didn't get any bad weather, except some cold that is a bit unusual for our area, at this time. Thankfully. Some of our other Midwest & northern states were not so fortunate, sadly. Thx for thinking of me!
ReplyDeleteThese are so perfect for your tags and genius idea!! I would set this out so that when guests came over they can admire your gorgeous work!!
ReplyDeleteHugs Kelly
Anne this is so stinking cool! I have all my tags shoved in a drawer...time to follow your creative lead and get them out of drawer-gatory!

Hi Anne,These are gorgeous! I am glad you have used your Maja design papers instead of just stroking them in the box :) Your tags look great in the holders. I like the habidashery theme and the wider base of the first one that has allowed you to put the metal corners on it. The hot air baloons look great on your second one. More shelves required in your craft room I think to hold these. Hugs Mo x
ReplyDeleteHow stunning is this absolutely amazing. Guess who is popping over to buy the plan?
ReplyDeleteWarm crafty hugs from Shirl x x
What a cool and beautiful way to show and store your tags! LOVE this!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great design and I love all of the photos you included! Thanks for sharing this and providing the link for purchasing the design plans. I'm off to check it out!
ReplyDeleteThis is so fabulous. I am blown away by the fact that the flap folds down so that it creates easy access to the tags and the way the tags hang from the pole.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning form of display.
Wishes
Lynne
