Hello Friends
My project this week in the Designer Spotlight at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is a mini Etcetera tag.
The challenge this week is Spritz and Splatter and so I got out my Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stains, including the new Limited Edition Distress Mica Spray and had lots of fun getting very inky and messy!
I used a Tim Holtz Etcetera Tag (mini) as my base. They are not really mini but measure approx 8" x 4.1/2" and give a nice sturdy base.
I started with a sheet of Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour Cardstock and spritzed three colours of Distress Spray Stain randomly over the card (Picked Raspberry, Salvaged Patina and Scattered Straw). To move it even more I spritzed with water and then took another piece of cardstock and placed it over this one to mop up some of the wetness. I now have a second piece of coloured cardstock for another project.
I glued the cardstock to the Etcetera Tag and went around all the edges with a black marker pen to give a finished look. Next I took Tim's Ledger Script stamp set and very lightly stamped all over the tag (you can barely see it but it adds some extra 'texture'). I then stamped Tim's Faded Type stamp set in black at the top and bottom.
I splattered the whole tag with white gesso along with the three colours of Distress Spray stain that I used to colour the card.
Next, I die cut the gorgeous Perspective Butterfly from some black card.
I then spritzed the butterfly rather heavily with the new Tim Holtz Distress Mica Spray in 'Empty Tomb' (I love the names of these new sprays!). It added a gentle sheen to the butterfly. I ended up using the spray on the tag reinforcer too after using a marker to colour it black.
To finish the tag off I added one of Tim's Word Chips along with the number 2 from the Idea-ology Odds & Ends set. I used some Distress Embossing Glaze in Salvaged Patina to add a little shimmer to the number.
We hope that you will join in the challenge this week, one lucky winner will receive a $25 voucher to spend!
The products I used are all listed at the end of this post.
I cannot believe that this is week 4 being in the Designer Spotlight - sadly, just one more week to go. I have something a little special to share next week so I hope you can visit. As always, thanks so much for your visit, it is always appreciated.
Crafty Hugs, Anne xxx

Such a gorgeous tag! The colours are stunning and I love that big butterfly, it's on my wish list 😀. Wishing you a happy new week! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDelete🦋… I’ve been loving the butterflies I’ve seen in my garden, so I’m especially drawn to this… you really highlighted the beautiful detail of the butterfly with the colors & subtle textures!! 💕
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful Anne! It's a shame to cover any of the tag up but this open butterfly is just perfect. Take care and have a very happy week, Sue xx
ReplyDeleteWow the colours are amazing, so bright and uplifting. The black of the butterfly and the stamping makes them pop. Love it. Andrea xx
ReplyDeleteLove the rich mix of colours and that black butterfly looks super. Great project once again Elaine xx
ReplyDeleteThis is so bright and beautiful and the butterfly is gorgeous! Take care my friend, hugs xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteI somehow missed this dramatic and gorgeous butterfly tag, Annie, and I love it! The colors are magic together and I'm bookmarking this post because I just love how you've put these colors together step-by-step. I also love the added schplatters, and, of course, the schparkle which must be awesome in person on the tag and the butterfly! Hugs, Darnell xoxo
ReplyDeleteThe colors on this are glorious! LOVE the ETC base too...I always forget to use them and they are so nice. Beautiful make.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tag! You've made a stunning background to show off the shimmering Perspective Butterfly. Those colors work so well together; always something I struggle with. Big hugs!
ReplyDeleteSo clever to use a sheet of paper to spritz on rather than just the tag, indeed you now have a second piece to create another beauty. The dark mica spray on the die cut Butterfly looks dynamic against those bright pops of colour (I love the spray names too.) Offset it brings a whole new perspective to this tag. Another fabtastical creation Anne.
