Hello Friends
In between DT work and a few commissions I found a little time to create another Halloween project. I was totally inspired by Jan Hobbins Owl lightbox HERE - it is amazing!
Tim's new Owl die was die cut from a large sheet of heavy white card. The owl was then coloured with Black Soot Distress Ink and then I applied Emerald Creek Midnight Black Embossing Powder and heat set it.
The leftover white card (which now has an owl shaped aperture) was coloured with Wilted Violet and Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide. I wanted the background behind the owl to appear as though the moon was shining behind him. Once coloured, the owl was glued back into the aperture.
The word 'Wicked' was cut once from a black self adhesive sheet and backed with orange card. The Idea-ology spider was coloured with Distress Embossing Powder in Spiced Marmalade. The words are chit chat stickers and the cobwebs were cut from Tim's new cobweb die. I added some die cut leaves to the branch to add some autumn colour.
I added some lights into the 1" recess and here they are lit up - this was before I added the extra words, stars and the spider.
Thanks so much for your visit, I will see you again soon I hope!
Hugs, Anne xx

That title really pulled me right in! Called Mr in to see what you've created, and he was amazed too. Your project skills are just unbelievable. Who could look at some tags and think "make a box". The coloring is so vivid & seasonally perfect...just absolutely SP-OOKY! You always do something utterly spectacular! TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteSo cool!!! I love the color combo. And the lighting is brilliant. You brought that owl to life. Love it!!! Hugs. Mary Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteWOW! This looks amazing Anne. I love what you've done with the owl die and the colouring behind him really brings this magnificent bird to life xx
ReplyDeleteFantastic 3d tag Anne! I am always so excited to see your Halloween themed projects and this one has brightened my day!! Love the owl focal piece, so eerie and yet still majestic. The glow around him is so beautiful, like a moon lit night with a starry sky! Just when I thought I couldn't love it any more, you added lights! WHAT!! That must look so amazing in the dark!! Absolutely 'wicked' Anne!! lol.
ReplyDeleteOur temperatures have been up and down this autumn, but at least the nights are getting cooler and I'm thankful for that. We've had lots of rain and I'm hoping that's a sign that we will get lots of snow this year. Wouldn't that be great!! lol. sending hugs :)
Spook-tacular!!! This looks fabulous Anne.

Anne, I absolutely love your owl quietly sitting there with the moonlight behind him waiting to scare the bejeebers out of someone!! Great idea to make the frame and love that it also lights up. Another fantastic Halloween project, you are the best! Hugs Lottie xx
ReplyDeleteooh Anne, this is wickedly awesome! The owl is divine against the stunning background and the light behind is soooooo cool! Yet another masterpiece my friend! xxx
ReplyDeleteEek! This is more scary to me than some of the bats and witches, etc. that I've seen around. Who knew an owl could look so frightening?! And it definitely is spookier with the "moon" shining behind him!! Another stunning work of art, Annie!! Hugs, Darnell xxoo
ReplyDeleteLoved this when I saw it earlier on FB and had to pop over for a closer look. Brilliant creativity.

What a wonderful lit from behind effect Anne! The yellow and purple are such great spooky colors. So many fun details - the orange on the spider (yuck!!) the leaves on the branch and big spider web - well done!
ReplyDeleteAnne...your creativity never ceases to amaze me! This simple tag is so so cool! Love the die cut and how you've colorized that eery owl. Love the "wicked" and how you've completely transformed that black paper to a real Halloween treat. The yellowish area behind the owl not only highlights him but also gives off an eery Halloweenish-moon glow! LOVE IT ALL!
ReplyDeleteAnne! Stunning and absolutely gorgeous!(can I say that about a spooky Halloween themed piece?) Well I did! I just love the purple and the way you made it appear as though the moon were glowing behind the owl- Brilliant! The only bad thing is, now I want the owl die! heehee
