Hello Everyone
I am still on my blog break, this is a scheduled Design Team post for Eileen Hull's Art With Heart where the challenge this month is Favourite Fall Things. One lucky winner will receive Eileen's Vintage Camper die from her new Vintage Travel range of dies!
When I think of Fall/Autumn I generally think of Halloween, autumn leaves and harvest time, but it is also the time when some of my favourite TV programmes start - like Downton Abbey, Strictly and so on. It is also the new season for Dr Who (who I admit I have not watched in a while). My favourite Dr Who character was Tom Baker, a rather colourful Dr Who with very distinctive eyes.....
I have been wanting to used Eileen's Artist Trading Block die to make a Tardis for some time and along with my current love, the Bird Crazy and Accessories stamps from Tim Holtz, I created Dr Whoot and his Tardis...
I cut out all of the elements first and stacked two ATB's on top of one another (I used the middle one from Eileen's ATB die 658984). I measured, drew and cut out the four pairs of doors with a craft knife and then made a plinth for the bottom and two for the top.
I painted all of the elements with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Paint in Ultramarine Blue.
I added some white card behind the top windows and then cut and painted some strips for the sides of the Tardis.
Once assembled, I added a small Tim Holtz Idea-ology bottle for the light at the top and added a sign to the front door.
I stamped the Bird Crazy 'owl' bird and used Tim's thinlit dies to cut him out and coloured him with Ground Espresso, Antique Linen, Scattered Straw and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. I added a hat from the Accessories stamp set. The scarf was created with a piece of calico fabric, painted in stripes with Tim Holtz Distress Markers.
I don't know about you but I think there is quite a good likeness between Dr Whoot and Tom Baker's character....or is it my vivid imagination I wonder...
Please be sure to check out Eileen's blog where you will see a wonderful Fall/Autumn creation from my DT buddy Tracy Evans here and from my DT buddy Pam Bray here. There will be more inspiration from my teamies every Tuesday. We would love it if you joined in!
As always, thanks for looking, hope to see you soon. Hugs, Anne xx

This post was pure pleasure, from the incomparable Tom Baker (though Matt Smith did work his way into my heart too) to Dr Whoot's magnificent scarf, striped to pay homage to his hero. ReplyDeleteAnne, Are you sleeping at the moment because I can only imagine you are forfeiting sleep to create such masterpieces!
ReplyDeleteThis is beyond amazing. To even have the imagination to transform one of the dies into a Tardis is incredible enough but add to that, Dr Whoot, well I say .... What a Hoot!!!!
Another piece of Redanne art which will stay in my mind for a long time and I cannot even blame it on being a fan of Dr Who as I don't believe I have ever watched an episode!

ReplyDeleteWow what a great idea. Love how you have created the tardis and Tom Baker looks so funny with his stripey scarf. Elaine xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun read this afternoon, and of course to enjoy this fab project & tutorial. I'd never heard the term Tardis, so most informative as well. Dr. Whoot looks just grand lurking around this blue police box, and ever since I saw your earlier accessorized CB's, I've been looking for the accessory set. You have an eye for the detail, just right colors, and Dr's scarf is a perfect accessory to his costume. He made me smile, and I enjoyed seeing the photos. I'm with you on waiting for the new seasons (I'm waiting for Acorn to stream Doc Martin...but never could get into Dr. Who. Our PBS is showing it now). I have enjoyed Ep 1 of Arthur & George, and ep 2 is on tonight. Had 3 dvrs set up to record it in case we were out. Can you tell I like Martin Clunes? I hope DA will have a good season and not be farfetched. Big Hugs & TFS. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteWow! This project is awesome and I love how you put it all together! Thank you for sharing this wonderful project!
ReplyDeleteThis is just fantastic Anne x Your imagination knows no bounds and I can't tell that Mr Mojo has left the building. I just love Dr Whoot xx
ReplyDeleteSending you my best wishes
Annie x
Wow Wow and more Wows! Anne . You excel yet again not only with your amazing crafting ability but also with your genius ideas and sense of humour . Your attention to detail and execution is exceptional .
ReplyDeleteIt is always a complete and utter pleasure to see and read about your creations Anne - I just hope you know how unbelievably talented you are .
I remember knitting myself a Dr Who scarf way back when and I insisted it had to touch the floor at both ends when I wore it otherwise it wasn't like the Dr's lol . Thank you for bringing a happy memory to the fore with your Tardis .
Sending hugs and sincere apologies for being so late in commenting . (Fallen desperately behind this last month )
hugs xx
Anne...your crazy birds just crack me up. They are so clever and you always put them in the funniest situations. I love how this little guy is dressed and standing outside that ingenious phone booth! As always, beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteDr Whoot. ..what a hoot! You know how to make me smile for sure! Brilliant! ! ! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteOh Wow! This is brilliant! Love it! xx
ReplyDeleteAnne - This is absolutely amazing! What a great job you did! We are big Dr. Who fans and have been watching the recent reruns with Tom Baker on BBC America. Great memories! Your Tardis is just perfect. And Dr.Whoot is fabulous. I would love to make this as a gift for my husband's birthday. Since it's not until May, it gives me time to experiment and try to perfect one before next year. Should you have any further measurements, directions or templates for the doors and windows, please include them in a future post. They would be helpful for me, as I don't make many 3D projects and usually take a very long time completing them.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiration.
THIS IS AH-MAZING! You're so clever! I utterly love love love it. <3
