Sunday Stampers - Week 215 - More Than Words

Hello Fellow Bloggers,

Thank you to all my new Followers, thank you so much for joining me, it is so lovely to have your company.

This week over at Sunday Stampers (http://pinkleart.blogspot.co.uk/) the challenge is More Than Words where the wonderful Hels Sheridan has asked us to do something with more than one word, using a sentiment etc. I am still in butterfly mode at the moment so I thought I would do another canvas and here is my entry:

The canvas is 8" x 8" and I covered it with Hazlenut Adirondack paint dabber and then used an Aqua paint dabber on my Sam Poole bubble wrap stamp and dabbed this around the canvas.  I then took the lid of the paint dabber, dabbed it into the paint and made the circles in each of the same two colours.  I used my finger and dabbed some Aqua around the edge of the canvas and streaked some here and there on the canvas to break up the Hazelnut.  I then painted the mesh lace with the Aqua paint dabber and attached it across the bottom.  The flower is made from Tim Holtz pastel stack and the Tattered Flowers Bigz die.  I wet the pieces and scrunched them up, dried them with my heat tool and then edged the petals with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. I added a large pearl brad to the centre.  The stalk and leaves were made from plain white card covered in Peeled Paint Distress Stain.

The butterflies are from the Wendy Vecchi Botanical Art stamp set and I stamped onto plain white card and coloured in Broken China DI.  I added the bakers twine to hold the mesh onto the canvas.  The wonderful sentiment was written by Rabindranoth Tagore.

I would like to take just a moment to thank some lovely blog friends.  Rita and I exchanged birthday gifts as our birthdays were very close together.  Thank you again Rita for my beautiful card and gift, I will treasure them always.  Rita has shown her card to me on her blog and it is well worth a look.  Next is Sandee who sent me a beautiful card all the way from the USA, I was really chuffed to get mail from there!  Next are two wonderful ladies Buttons (with whom I share a birthday) and Shoshi sent me beautiful cards too.  All these ladies have inspired me and kept me motivated and encouraged to try new things.  I know I keep saying it but Crafters are the kindest, most caring and generous people I have ever met.  I now have four beautiful hand made cards from people other than the Grandchildren!  Thank you all so very much.

    What a gorgeous canvas Anne! I think you chose a marvellous colour combination and your choice of stamps is very cool. I love the idea of wettng and scrunching the flowers I will give it a try. I know just what you mean about getting handmade cards (from someone other than my lovely young daughter) Anita and Sue, my American friends, send me handmade cards and it is such a huge thrill. I saw the card Rita made - gorgeous.

    Woo hoo! If this is what has kept you busy today then it has been time VERY well spent! LOVE that flower - you really are good at flowers aren't you. The butterflies are always going to be a hit with me, but I think it is the bubble wrap/mesh background elements and the sentiment that make this piece so beautifully balanced.

    Hi Anne this is absolutely gorgeous. Love the bubble wrap stamp and the circles are fabulous. I need to make more use of my tatteredfloralsdie and your flower is very inspiring. I am sure that you will get even more cards next year now we know your birthday date. Hugs Annie.

    Ps I am all ready fir Hels Demobstrations tomorrow. I don't need anymore dies but look forward to the inspiration and perhaps some sentiment stamps. So far I have not watched the SB shows. Maybe we should have a girlie craft weekend in London , maybe put that to Hels x

    Really love this, Anne. The colours are delicious, and so great to hear how inventively you applied them to the background (using the lid to apply circles - clever stuff!). Gorgeous canvas!

    By-here, you're quick off the mark with this. I love your canvas Anne, lovely sentiment and the colours are good together.
    I started something this afternoon for the Sunday Stampers challenge, but I'd too many things to fit in today so, as the saying goes too much rush equals less speed, so needless to say, it ended up in the bin. I'll be starting it again tomorrow after work, wish me better luck next time!

    You really have created a fabulous cambered here. The background gives an almost retro feel and with the lovely colour combo and addition of the words, flowers and of course a lovely butterflies it all comes together beautifully.

    Great canvas, Anne. I love stamping with bubble wrap - it's really cool stuff! Have you ever tried melting it? That's fun too!

    Thanks for your lovely bit about your birthday cards, and for the link to my blog. I love receiving things in the post from Blogland friends, and couldn't believe how much fun the recent ATC swap has been. I'm still waiting for a couple to arrive!

    Thank you for your lovely comment, too. I'll have a look for that Tim Holtz tutorial. I did try dipping one of my roses in UTEE once and it was far from successful - it was all gloopy and stayed on the surface without penetrating between the petals so I just assumed it was too thick for that sort of treatment. I'll look it up and see where I was going wrong. It might be hard to do the crackle painting though, because assembling the flowers means rolling and manipulating the pieces, which would make the paint crack off. Still, it's worth experimenting. Flatter, hand-embossed flowers with no need for further maniuplation once done, should stand the treatment very well, though, and I'm definitely going to do some of those. I'll just have to see how it goes.
