WOYWW - Week 164

Hello Fellow Woywwers and Bloggers

Yes, it's that time again when we share our desks, warts and all, to the world courtesy of our hostess Julia over at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk/.  If you want to join in then check out Julia's blog for details.

Short and sweet this week.  Thank you for all the lovely birthday messages last week, I had a lovely day.  I have posted three times since last week so have very little to show other than commission cards, which are currently under wraps.  So here is my desk this week:

I know, it's a mess, but I am just finishing off a little treasure box, the glue is still drying so I just left everything where it was and went to bed.  My canvas on the shelf is going to my neighbours today, we are going for dinner and the colours are just right for their house.  I did post the canvas a couple of days ago if you want to see it fully.  My Tim Holtz Ideaology is now all neatly stored in my little plastic organiser and you might just be able to see a new die/stamp set that I got from Sizzix/Hero Arts - more butterflies - yay!

I thought I would show you a card I made from the left over butterflies I have been doing cards with this week.  I had a light bulb moment, I am going to do one butterfly in each of the distress ink colours and put them on my wall for reference.  They will look like the ones on my card below.

That's it from me, if you do call I hope you will be kind enough to leave me a message.  I will do my best to visit as many desks as possible and will return the compliment if you visit me.  Crafty hugs,  Anne xx

PS - whilst the Olympics are on I may not get to as many desks as usual - sorry, but this is a once in a lifetime event for us here in the UK (for my age group anyway - lol).

  1. Beautiful butterflies Anne,
I love your lightbulb moment too ;D

I can't wait to see the Olympics too...but I'm hoping to be around for a few more, not just this one!
I just dread the silly-o-clock times we'll have to be up in order to see the events.
The cycling lads did brilliantly though didn't they?...whoops this is supposed to be about our art :$
Have lots of fun...and good luck to the UK... the eyes of the world are watching! xox

  13. Oh redanne...this new card is gorgeous. I pinned it...I hope that is Ok with you...let me know if it is a problem and i will delete it.

I would like to scraplift your card idea but i would do it on canvas. I make up Xmas hampers for new families from Muldova (used to be a part of Russia). They emmigrate here with 5 grand and 2 suitcases. They are doctors and lawyers, accountants and teachers in their own country. They come to Canada to give their kids a better life and often clean our offices etc.
They are honest, hardworking people and my daughters and I have sort of adopted 8 families for the last 2 years.
Art is just so not on the agenda when you need dishes, pots and pans, furniture, etc. I thought I would make a hair flower for each of the girls, a canvas for the parents, and I am stumped for the little boys so far!
Anyway, Iwould like to try your card in a canvas...I think it would look fab. I have 4 canvasses so must get to creating. I will give you full credit and link back to your card when I blog them.

  15. I love those butterflies, great idea. That plastic organiser is fabulous. I can't wait for the Olympics, but it will mostly be the repeats of events as we are asleep during your afternoon and evening. Did you manage to get tickets?

I saw on Tim's blog the new little christmas trees they launched coloured in the same way. Your boxes are a great way to keep all the lovely TH goodies to hand too. Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 39

  35. I love, love, LOVE that butterfly die. I recognized the colors right off as the new Tim summer ones. That is a fabulous idea to make butterflies out of the colors and hang them on the wall--a great reference tool AND good looking.

  37. Oh Anne, that butterfly card is just stunning... I would love to do something like that, and use lots of different DIs. It's soooo effective, and I adore the sentiment - can I borrow that one please? I'm doing an 80th birthday card atm which has got to be done by the weekend (my hubby has just reminded me) and it's all butterflies! Still Dylusions inks though, and lots of work with my Cougar cutting machine - the new pen tool is so awesome! You've got a busy desk there, and I love your RUB organiser. I'm gradually collecting RUBs and would love to replace every miss-matched box in my ARTHaven with them, but I doubt if that will happen in a hurry!

Thanks for your lovely comment - I shan't ever get to visit every desk again, I shouldn't think - far too many these days. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any gems that I'd want to keep visiting, and I've now made a list of "must-visits" (don't worry, you are on it lol!!) and no doubt this will be added to in time.

As for my annotated photo, it really was easy-peasy to do, using my desktop publisher. You just create little text frames which you can move wherever you want, and add lines with arrow heads on them. Everything is moveable, not like trying to do the same thing in Word which is an absolute nightmare.

Busy with Butterflies till the end of the week! I'll blog about it later.

    Happy WOYWW,
    Shoshi #51

  38. I agree about the Olympics and tomorrow night (Friday, I am late posting) I will not answer the phone whilst watching the opening ceremony. I used to work with Danny Boyle's twin sister.
Just love your butterflies and what a fabulous idea to cover your wall with them. That's a fabulous card you made - may I copy it please (will mention you if that is ok)

  42. Hi Anne, great post and I love your canvas, the butterfly colours are so vivid. The EM, who is 73, remembers the last Olympics to be staged in this country ... he was 11 years old at the time and had to go to the local cinema to see the action ... which makes him one of the few to have witnessed it twice in his lifetime. I'm glad to say I can make no such claims :)) Belated happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #24
