Mini Books with Washi Tape

 Hello Friends

Sadly, this is my last Guest post for AALL & Create, I am definitely going to miss making weekly projects with their wonderful products.

I am not usually a great user of Washi Tape but this latest release by AALL & Create really caught my eye and so I just had to have a play.  I made three tiny books.

I used Eileen Hull's Tiny Book die (Sizzix 664423), the book itself is 2.5 inches by 3 inches but is just the perfect size for the Washi Tape and some of AALL & Create's tiny images.

I simply applied the Washi to some matboard and then die cut each book.

I cut a piece of card for each book measuring 14 inches by 2.1/2" and scored this at 2 inch intervals.  I also cut some mats to fit each part.  These were decorated with some stencilling and inks in colours to match the cover.
The little characters below are from a variety of stamps by Janet Klein.
The second book was decorated inside and out with Washi, ink and a background stamp by Tracy Evans.  I love how the words pick up the colour from underneath.

In each case I added an elastic closure and on this one I used the Washi again to create a title.

The last little book is, I think, my favourite, I love the boldness of the red and black crosses against the white background.  To create the button closure on this one I applied Washi to some thick card and die cut the circle, adding some holes for the elastic to thread through.  The inside, at the moment is blank.

Thanks so much for your visit.

Keep safe and well.

Hugs, Anne xx

  1. Gorgeous projects as always Anne. Hopefully see you back as a guest designer very soon.

    1. James, thank you, it means such a lot to me. Thank you too for getting the washi tape to me so quickly to enable me to create this project! Hugs, Anne xx

  2. Absolutely gorgeous Anne and superb showcase of the Washi tapes . Big big hugs ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜

  3. Beautiful as always, I love all of your books and journals. Great use of the washi tape, looks fab, especially the black and white with the red.
Washi is something I have loads of but never seen to use it, now I feel inspired! xx

  4. I keep seeing that washi tape pop up all over the place. What a wonderful way to use it. So tempted...

  5. Aw Anne these are brilliant. They sure are going to miss having you on the team ...and we'll miss the wonderful makes. Big hugs xx

  6. What fabulous tiny journals Anne, they may be small but they are perfectly formed! I'm going to miss seeing your makes each week too, but enjoy your time off. Take care and have a very happy month, Sue xx

  7. I just love your little journals Anne. What a great idea, using washi tape on the covers .. looks amazing! Fabulous on the outside and on the inside as well. Sad that this is your last post for AAL & Create but looking forward to your next project. hugs xx

  8. Adorable projects! I finally just got this die and am having fun with it! Thanks for the ideas and sharing your fun work here! :)

  9. I'm so sad to read this is your last AALL & Create GD post Anne, as well as many will miss your weekly creations. You've given us so much inspiration and been a wonderful enabler. You mini book trio are delightful, each with a different character to call their very own. I did not realise the mini book was that small, maybe I should invest after all. Janets wee people fit perfectly inside it's as if they were designed just for this.
I have to say I love washi but do not use it as often as I should, the red cross journal is so striking and like you is a personal fav, red and black is always a winning colour combo. Fabulous creations Anne, i'm going to really miss you, I hope there are BIG Bright things to take it's place.
Sending hugs your way dear friend, stay well & ever creative HUGS Tracey xx

  10. You went out with a flourish, Annie! I love your three tiny books celebrating these cool Washi tapes! My fave is those colorful bright-eyed girls! They just make me smile widely, but I love the other two as well. I'm sure not having you as the Weekly Inspirer will be a big loss to AALL & Create! I hope you are keeping well. Hugs, Darnell xxoo

  11. Your little books are terrific and I am fascinated how you used washi tape to make the covers - that's ingenious. Like others I have a nice collection of washi tape and that's another way I am going to use it in future, thanks very much for the idea (I hope it's not copyrighted!).

  12. Love your three mini books Anne! They are so vibrant in their eye catching washing tape covers, and of course I love the quirky tiny people on the concertina inked pages. All three mini masterpieces! Love them all. Hugs Lottie x

  13. Washi Tape is so perfect for this clever too. LOVE the colors!

  14. They have been soooo lucky to have you Anne! What a star turn to bow out on! Love this brilliantly creative trio - I simply dont know how you continue to think of, let alone create, should an amazing range of works - each one as perfect as the next. Bravo from me!! x
