Simon Says Stamp Designer Spotlight - Week 3

 Hello Friends

I hope you are keeping safe and well.  I am back this week with another project in the Designer Spotlight at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge ....

The challenge this week is GRUNGE IT UP.

Having recently bought a vintage typewriter I was inspired to make my Grunge It Up project using Tim Holtz's Vintage Typewriter die along with his Idea-ology Vignette Divided Drawer set.

I started with a Tim Holtz Ideaology Vignette Divided Drawer, taking out one of the compartment sides.  I cut this down because I wanted to use it as a shelf later on.  I love this Vignette box with its flexible elements.
I covered the inside and outside of the Vignette with Tim Holtz papers from my stash, including the piece I would use for my shelf.
The shelf was added and I created a drawer to fit.  I die cut and assembled the typewriter, painting parts with Brush Pewter Distress Paint, before adding it to the Vignette.
The drawer was covered in paper and I applied some Rock Candy Crackle Glaze to the edges of the drawer and the edges of the whole Vignette.  Once dry I used Distress Crayon to age the painted elements.
I then created a small book and some old papers and miniature envelopes to sit on the shelf.
Next came the fun part, gathering my Ideaology bits and bobs to add to the Vignette.  I created a small wire basket from some rusty wire in my stash, to hold tiny stamps and then attached the other elements, finally adding the word Curiosities to the front.
Finally, I added the Curio Knob to the top and the Mini Foundation feet to the base of the Vignette.

I fully intended to add some typed words to my little typewriter but sadly, I had to send my real vintage typewriter off to be serviced, to bring it up to useable condition....

Please do come and join in the fun Grunge It Up challenge this week here:

  7. This is absolutely brilliant Anne, chock full of tiny little special details. I had a rummage through my 'Tim' box too the other night. For years we took the kids (now 29 & 27) to USA for our holidays. Every year I would have 1 afternoon in Joanne's and Michaels and stock up on my Tim goodies. I don't think I've even opened most of it but on Sunday I discovered my Curio knobs (which I'd forgotten all about) so I was a very happy bunny. Take care and have a great week, Sue xx

  8. Your attention to detail always amazes me Anne. This is FAB-U-LOUS ..... I love it!! xx

  9. My lovely talent friend you have brightened my week, having suffered from a horrid migraine since Sunday i'm so happy my first blog visit this week has brought me here. You know how I love attention to detail and you have given me more than enough to just drool over. From converted vignette with it's added draw books and curio's just look at the wire stray holding those salvages stamps... my oh my.. i'm sitting (squatting) again just taking it all in. You are such a clever clever lady Anne!! I love it.
Thanks so much for sharing, hugs Tracey xx
P.S I'm very envious of your Old Typewrite :)x

  10. Absolutely awesome piece Anne! Love the way you altered the box to suit and the little typewriter looks so cute. I also love the tiny book and the envelopes and you picked the perfect ideaology pieces to add to this vignette. I just adore all the details. xx

  11. Amazing! So much yummy detail its just a joy to explore. Each detail is perfect and I particularly adore the wire tray with the stamps in, adorable! Another triumph my friend. Take care and stay safe. Hugs xxxxx

  12. Get you! You even have carpentry skills! Gorgeously made and assembled Anne. I love all the wonderful doodads. Hope the typewriter returns in perfect working order and that you have great fun with it. I hope you are both still well. Have a lovely week. Nicola x

  13. Anne, this is such a great design! LOVE the office elements and the organizational cool.

  14. Anne, how clever to turn the box on it's side and get out the power tools to remove the bottom! I love all the little vintage details you've added, especially the little mesh desk organizer with the tiniest stamps and the stitched binding on the tiniest book I've ever seen topped with ruffled papers. This looks like my desk! Wow, you nailed this grungy challenge! Big hugs!
