Tim's Tag August 2013

Hello Blog Friends

It is that time again, Tim has done four tags this month which you can see HERE.  For once, I actually had two sets of the stamps he used, but for those who follow me regularly, you will know that I am totally obsessed with the Chemist set of stamps, see here and here to see how I used it, so I just had to include him. I have made two tags, as you can see here (click on the photos for a better view):

I won't go into too much detail as I basically followed Tim's tutorial and did lots of masking.  The tag on the left represents a wonderful holiday we had in Canada a few years ago, when we went on a fabulous steam train journey in British Columbia.  It is one holiday we would love to repeat over and over - nothing exotic or tropical for us!  The word band says 'Enjoy the Journey' - we certainly did.  The base is coloured with Broken China and Frayed Burlap Distress Stains.

For my chemist (have I said how much I love this stamp set?) I used Tea Dye and Broken China Distress Stains.  This set is ideal for masking, the stamps are quite large.  The word band says 'life is about creating yourself' - I have visions of a mad chemist trying to re-create another being in his laboratory..... is that better or worse than selling arsenic to a lovely steampunk lady?  I think it will be an ideal stamp set for Halloween creations.  I know he does not really fit the - where would you love to travel to theme - but Tim did say we could just use stamps that are our current favourites  - this is certainly my current favourite.

But I didn't stop there, I created two more tags because I was enjoying rediscovering masking so much.

I was not quite so happy with these, the butterfly one does not really show off the masking as well as I would like and I think the airplane one is perhaps a bit too bright, although I made sure the airplane was flying over North America to represent our visit to Canada again.  Still, the tags will not be wasted.....

I can't wait to see what Tim comes up with us for next month. I really hope he enjoys his trip to the UK this week too and that he will keep coming back again and again (please!).  Just sorry I will not be there this time but hopefully friends say hello for me and will take lots of photos and I will be watching Mario's BTS.

Thanks so much for looking!  Take care and I hope you are enjoying some crafty time.  Big hugs, Anne xx

  6. Good Afternoon Anne. What a joy to see these stunning tags. I love them both and would find it hard to choose one against the other. The colours look so divine and the whole tags are gorgeous. Every day I keep thinking of you and ever hopeful that maybe through a cancellation you managed to get a place on Timmy's course, then I woke up from my dream. But we will definately take lots of pictures so you don't miss out. Hugs Rita xxx

  8. So very lovely, as Rita says a joy to look at. Anne all of them are gorgeous but personally I prefer the last two. I just love how the red and blue pop and yet the lovely soft and subtle use of colour on the butterfly tag, my absolute favourite, calls me back to look at it again and again. Will go check out Tim's creation as I've been very rude and not visited for a while! Have a lovely weekend Karen x

  12. A wonderful collection Anne and your Canadian inspired tag is such a lovely idea. Such a great collection of tags.
Isn't it so funny that particular stamp sets can totally grab our imagination and we cannot stop inking them up, always such fun when that happens.

  13. Have to say I wondered what had happened to your amazing peacock feathers tag, but there it is, still with us - phew! Funny how we both changed our minds about how to do these tags, but I agree, it got me right back into masking again. Do love your new tags and of course Mr. Chemist. Huge hugs, Jenny x

  14. Wow..These are just fabulous Anne. LOve the first one of your Canadian Holiday. I would love to take a train there. Spent a week in Vancouver and went up to Whistler several years ago. We took the train from Seattle, which we also loved, along the coast to Vancouver, going through the Peace Arch. AMAZING !!

Back to the tags as I am easily distracted...think I am trying to avoid the ironing !!!!! I love the butterfly one and the plane representing your Air Canada flight.

    Take care

    Annie xx

The chemist is wonderful Anne and you can tell that you love it x

  16. I always look forward to your monthly TT posts, Annie. These are so fantastic! As always, you create with such care and attention to tiny details. I love that they are very personal for you, too! Kevin and I have been blessed to have visited British Columbia twice and we say the same thing about going back. I'm not sure what it is like now, but 25-30 years ago it had such a quiet rustic charm that made it even more of a paradise than just the breathtaking scenery.

I'm sorry you are missing out on Tim this time, but I am sure he will be back. And I'm still crossing my fingers that you will be called in last minute from the waiting list due to cancellations! Ever the optometrist! No, wait, that doesn't sound right!

    Hugs! xxoo Darnell

  17. More incredible creations from you Anne! I hope to have a go at one of Tim's tags one day. I think I need to learn a little more about masking first. What set does the compass come from please Anne, I've been searcing for one for a wee while? An acquaintance is going to see Tim when he's here and then she's doing a class in a craft shop in the next town. I'm hoping I'll be able to go but I'll have to wait & see. :0) xx

  18. Great tags Anne - all of them are superb but my favourite is definitely the airplane one. Bright it may be but with that background, the plane looks as if its going to fly right off the tag! Love it! Margie x

  19. Anne - I am not late getting here - all those people above me are early!! Four tags and all are grand. As for the chemist, I am starting to believe you have a crush oh him. Well I can hardly blame you because he is quite handsome. Now I understand your deep seeded thoughts about the arsenic. The previously mentioned lady is very pretty and trim. Was it you that put the arsenic within her reach? Ahhh- Halloween with the Chemist, just be very careful Anne. He lures the innocents in with that dreamy eyed stare and then POOF your gone. Just like me!

  35. Anne..your August tags are so cool. My grandson would love the train one. He's a nut about trains...has been since he was 18 months old and he's 6 now. But, he doesn't like the cartoon trains. He loves the real ones! haha Anyway, your tags are gorgeous. Love the colors and the stamping techniques you've used. They look awesome. Beautiful work, as always. <3 Candy

I adore the Chemist stuff myself - can't wait to buy these stamps - where did you get yours from Anne? I don't want to see your work again at the moment with these stamps in case it influences me because I admire what you do so much. You always create wonderful artwork.
