Shabby Chic

Hello Everyone

A big welcome to my latest followers, I am thrilled to have you along on my crafty journey!

Simon Says Stamp and Show have a new challenge called Chic to be Shabby and I really wanted to get involved this week.  You can find all the details of the challenge HERE and one lucky winner will be chosen by random selection to receive a $50 gift voucher to spend at Simon Says and three other winners will be chosen as the top 3.

To make the card, I layered some patterned Bo Bunny paper (with some lovely script and faux stitching) on top of some Kraft, on top of some cream card, on top of a Kraft card base.  All the mats were heavily distressed around the edges with a distressing tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink was applied around the edges.  I added some mesh ribbon, crochet flowers and roses from my stash and some of Tim's chit chat stickers to say - fly away home.

The butterfly is cut from Tim Holtz Melange tissue wrap, I coloured the back of the butterfly with Tim's Distress Paint in Broken China and then glued it to some stiff white card.  I painted the back of the white card with the same paint.  I then coated the front of the butterfly with Ranger Distress Crackle paint to try to give the appearance of real butterfly wings.  I really love this butterfly!  If you click on the photo below you should be able to see the effect better.

I hope you like my dalliance into shabby chic.  Thank you for looking, I will be posting again tomorrow for another challenge, hope you will have a look at that too.  Hugs,  Anne xx

Your butterfly is stunning with the paint showing through the frosted tissue wrap and the fabulous crackle on top. Gorgeous trim and flowers. Just a beauty of a design.

  27. Redanne...your shabby chic card is so lovely! I love love that butterfly! So shabby and so perfect for this card. I also love your bits of vintage lace. That really lends itself to the shabby chic genre; as do the little doilies and sweet roses. That Bo Bunny paper in the background is the perfect background for this beautiful shabby chic card. Thanks for sharing your always lovely work with us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. <3 Candy
