'Til Death Do us part.... for Halloween

 Hello Friends

I guess it is no secret by now that I love Halloween!  Growing up in Canada meant we celebrated Halloween every year and since moving to the UK I have seen it grow in popularity here too, albeit to a much lesser extent....

I have been avidly watching Tim Holtz's Saturday live sessions and having made some drippy candles following one of those sessions and I decided to incorporate them into a coffin vignette (as you do!!).

I did my best to photograph it in poor light but hopefully you get the idea.
I started with one of Tim's new Coffin Vignettes and covered it with paper from one of Tim's paper pads.  The inside is decorated with Tim's Halloween Wallpaper.  This was then edged with some of the new Halloween Design Tape.

Inside the top deck I added the candles I created (adding some tiny lights for effect), some decorated bottles and a mini dome which I decorated with Clear Rock Candy Distress Paint and added an Idea-ology skull and pumpkin.
To create the middle deck I added a 'shelf' where I could display the Idea-ology Number Blocks.  These were painted with Crackling Campfire Distress Paint and then glazed with Crackling Campfire Distress Glaze.  To finish off I added a skull and a Found Relative (which I originally coloured with Distress Crayon but I preferred her plain and simple and so wiped off the crayon with a baby wipe.
In the bottom section I added some of Tim's Tiny Lights and used some of the new Halloween Vellum Haunts to cover the section.  I attached a spare Vignette shelf to the bottom of the coffin, painted it black and added the Idea-ology bat, a tombstone and skull along with some moss from my stash.
When I add tiny lights to my projects I like to contain the battery packs by creating pockets at the back of the project, you can see them here...
And here are those lights lit up!
They both look quite spooky in the dark...

I had great fun making this project, I am almost sorry that Halloween will be over so soon.  Thanks so much for your visit, I hope to see you again soon.

Hugs, Anne xxx

  2. Whoa! Just when I think you can never top a Halloween creation, you do! This is beyond spooktacular, Annie!! I just can't get over the details and seeing it lit up is amazing! You are the Queen of the Macabre!! And, hey, did I tell you I know these ladies who just started an all-year-round Halloween challenge?! It was made for you! It's called Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge. Don't you love the name?! Keep safe and well! Hugs, Darnell xxoo

  3. I'm sorry Halloween is nearly over too Anne & I don't even celebrate it but I will if you keep creations like this coming!! I know how much you love the season and boy how you have embraced it, the rich crackling campfire paint and embossing on the letters is amazing. Every inch of detail I know is made with love and affection. Not using FB is a downside for me not being able to see what Tim gets up too each Saturday but those candles look fantastic. All lit up in the right places, bet it looks incredible of a night time.
If you change the numbers each day Anne & use it as a calendar, it would be the perfect excuse to leave it out all year round.. sounds like a plan to me hee hee!! Stunning. Have a super weekend & i'm already excited to see the next creation, please keep them coming it makes me want to go create things.
    Big Hugs Tracey xx

  5. It's great to see all the details close up - those amazing glossy red letters, the shelf full of lotions and potions, perfect drippy candles - and of course it's all fabulous lit up. Brilliant as always. I hope you've enjoyed your Halloween!

  6. Just seen your comment - do hope your eyes can be sorted out - and the move is somewhat hampered by this evening's announcement. I think my stuff can probably still go... just not sure I can!

  7. Just when you think you can't get any better... Anne this is beyond amazing! I'm in love with those drippy candles, and the litle shelf of horror is only outcreeped (it's a word now) by that paper doll, and then you go and Light It Up!!! Have a very happy November, Sue xx
