I am having such fun with CC3C, it is really challenging me to use and do things I have not used or done before. The challenge this time is to use Tim's special Distress Embossing Powders and you can find the technique on Page 52 of Tim's Compendium of Curiosities III.
The rules are straightforward and can be found on LINDA LEDBETTER'S blog, you must work from your own personal copy of Tim's book and we should not describe the technique out of respect for Tim.
The Curiosity Crew will choose a winner who will win a fabulous package of products from Tim and Mario and the sponsor for this fortnight is INSPIRATION EMPORIUM who will be offering a very generous $50 shopping spree at their on-line shop, to one very lucky randomly selected person.
I have just received the new large Layered Leaf die and Embossing Folder and since it has turned quite Autumnal here in the UK, I just had to use it to create a Thanksgiving card.
I cannot describe the technique but I did use several of Tim's Embossing Powders in Spiced Marmalade, Vintage Photo, Fired Brick and Aged Mahogany to give the gorgeous big leaves an Autumnal look. I also die cut two oak leaves and an acorn from a Movers and Shapers die and used the same technique on these too.
Here's a close-up of the leaves. They are quite large but very beautiful.
The 8" square base card is Kraft, on top is a mat coloured with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink. I added a layer of burlap (from my stash) to the top to give an 'earthy' feel to the card. The ribbon has been dyed with Spiced Marmalade and a touch of Vintage Photo Distress Inks. The little piece of burlap was taken from the edge of the burlap piece and added to the bow.
The letters are from Tim's Alpha parts, I sanded them very lightly and added some Spiced Marmalade Distress Paint, left it for a few moments and then wiped some off with a piece of dry paper towel. I just thought the black letters needed toning down a little for this piece.
I am entering this into the Compendium of Curiosity III Challenge #11 - HERE.
This is also my Design Team piece for Inspiration Emporium, I do hope you will go over and have a look at the current challenge which is 'Fall is in the Air' and where there is an opportunity to win an amazing $50 gift voucher to spend in the on-line store. So if you enter the Inspiration Emporium challenge and CC3C you have a chance to win $100 in total - just imagine what you could buy with that!
If you do go over to Inspiration Emporium for supplies you can use my code Redanne to receive a 10% discount. Postage in the US is only £5 and international postage is just $10!
Thanks for looking, I will be back in a couple of days with my Tim Tag which has been finished for ages but I just forgot to post it! See you then I hope. Hugs, Anne xx
