Thank you for being so understanding about my lack of blogging/commenting over the last 10 days or so, your comments on my last post really cheered me up. My absence was a combination of coming down with a dreadful bug (and my lovely DH is still recovering from Shingles) and also having Builders in the house all day, every day. I think my Mojo just gave up the ghost too!
Anyway enough of the moaning, I thought I would show you the second tag holder I made, which is similar to the one HERE but decorated quite differently. I hope you will like this one too.
The tag book is made from some quite faintly patterned scrapbook paper that I had in my stash. I wanted to keep this fairly plain so the flower and the ribbon ties took centre stage. The cover is made from two No. 10 Ranger Manila tags and the pockets are designed to take the equivalent of No 8 Ranger tags, with a bit of room to spare. This is how the pockets look from the side.
And another view showing the pockets.
This view has a few No. 8 tags in the pockets. You can just see the tops and there is plenty of room for embellishments on the tags, which is important to me as I do love to embellish!
The outside of the tag book has been covered in paper and I distressed the edges with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. The vintage seam binding closure is also coloured with Picked Raspberry, this time with Distress Stain.
The flower was an experiment when Tim Holtz did his Tattered Floral Challenge. I took some crinoline fabric (purchased from the Funkie Junkie), coloured it with Picked Raspberry Distress Stain, then coloured some linen fabric in the same way, die cut two sets from the Tattered Floral die, put them together with a pearl brad and scrunched them into shape. I love the way the flower turned out!
To finish off I added some cotton lace to the bottom and side of the book, added a little silver coloured flower charm and then stamped on the front with my favourite Tim Holtz sentiment. The tag book will lie flat, stand on it's side and also on it's end for storage.
These really are so easy to make and a great way to store tags, instead of sticking them in a drawer or box as I used to do. Once you make one it is easy to make another one, bigger or smaller to suit larger tags or even ATCs.
I have not gone into any detail about sizes or the how-to here, because it is a bit long, but I have put together an instruction leaflet on how to make one. If you are interested you will find my email address under the 'About Me' Profile on my left sidebar. If you email me I will send you a copy of the instructions. Alternatively, if you wish you can leave me your email address in the comment box and I will send a set off to you.
I would like to enter this into the Eclectic Paperie April eTeam Picks Challenge which is Flowers.
Thank you for looking and as ever, thank you if you leave me a comment! Big hugs, Anne xx
HI Anne

ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful, Anne! I love that you've managed to achieve such subtle colour shading with so vivid a colour as the Picked Raspberry; gorgeous ribbons and lace; and oh my word that flower is a real showstopper. I'm not surprised with all you've had going on that your mojo has felt a bit sluggish, but I'd say this shows it's right back in action!! Lovely to have you play along with us at eclectic Paperie!

Anne...I love your tag holder! It's such a cool idea and I love how you've finished it out! That dimensional flower is gorgeous! Your did such a beautiful job on that. It looks like something from Prima that you would buy already packaged in the store...no, even better than that! Love the bits of lace on your cover and spine of your little holder as well. I am going to have to email for those directions. That is a neat project! I also want to thank you for your sweet comment you left on my blog. It's much appreciated. <3 Candy
