Hello Friends
The first Friday of the month means a new challenge at A Vintage Journey The lovely Julia is our host this month. Here is what Julia has to say:
'This month we are asking you to create with STARS. Fill up the dark winter sky with them or use one big one as your central focus. Stencil them, stamp them, emboss them or die cut them. Make a card, make a star box, make a canvas, create a journal page - remembering to create in the vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journalling, industrial or steampunk styles.'
I usually make a 'light up' home decor piece at Christmas time and the Star theme fitted my plan perfectly.
I used a Tim Holtz Vignette Box, his Merry Moose (I love him!!), one of Tim's Woodland trees and a few other Tim products to create my winter scene...
I started by creating a fake 'wall' at the back of the vignette so that my lights could fit behind. The wall was created with a really old Tim Holtz paper pad - one page had resist stars on and I simply added some Distress Ink to the starry background. I punched some holes, through some of the stars for the lights to show through. I used the same paper for the insides of the vignette.
The top, sides and floor of the vignette were coated with Ranger Distress Grip Paste. I die cut Merry Moose, some trees and small deer, coloured them and added them to the vignette along with one of Tim's Woodland Trees, coloured green.
I added a lot of Tim's Greenery to the top of the vignette and added a Ideaology sentiment.to the front. The back of the vignette was covered with some snowflake design paper from my stash. I used the same paper to create a battery pack holder.

It was difficult to get the night time view but here it is lit up, it does look better in real life.
I hope you will join in our Star Light, Star Bright challenge this month, it would be lovely to see you there!
Do please check out my teamies projects too, over at A Vintage Journey there are some real beauties over there.

Anne - I just LOVE your wonderful lit up scene - that moose just cracks me up galloping along there in the starry forest! How creative and beautiful is the starry sky you designed! Thank you so much for joining in my challenge! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteOh wow Anne what a brilliant piece of Christmassy home decor. I love how you created the fake wall to hide the lights and the fabulous scene that must come to life beautifully in the evening. Such a great idea xxx
ReplyDeleteThis has brought a wide smile this morning Anne, doesn't your merry moose look dashing all lit up amongst the stars. I remember last years as if it was yesterday how time has flown by this year. So nice to see the festive decoration upon the top and it's mechanics so neatly stored away at the back. Another delight to adorn your home and a star lit treat for all to see.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a magical weekend.
Hugs Tracey xx
This is superb Anne! There is something about that moose that makes me smile every single time! Don't think I will tire of him. Fantastic transformation of the vignette box. Get you with the battery pack having its own custom home - so neat and clever. Nicola x
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous Anne and I agree with Tracey this does bring a smile to my face also, so cheerful and just what is needed at this time of year. Fantastic texture and I adore the moose, so adorable. Of course I love it even more because it lights up. Love love love ❤️

ReplyDeleteAnne...you just continue to out do yourself! This is absolutely darling! The little lights are an added bonus. The moose is so cute! Love the way he “dashing through the snow”. And the trees in the background are the perfect way to hide the little lights! Such a cute project!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely piece of Christmas decor Anne! Merry Moose looks perfect in his snowy woodland with the backdrop of twinkling stars. Love it! Hugs Lottie xx
ReplyDeleteUtterly delightful! Your shining stars are so uplifting, all lit up in the night sky, and the moose just puts the biggest smile on my face... he's so jaunty! Fantastic!

Oh my goodness, Anne, I absolutely adore this!! I loved it before I scrolled down to see that it lights up!! Spectacular!! Wow!! What a gorgeous scene you've created!! I love everything about this!! I've tried to buy that Merry Moose die but the first place took my money and shipped me a box without it and when I told them it was missing, they were out of them. I tried another place over three weeks ago and I'm still waiting!! I'm still waiting on my mini-globe dies that I purchased after seeing your project, too. Sheesh, I'm not having very good luck with purchasing TH dies!! I hope you have a great weekend, my sweet friend!! Big hugs :)
