Compendium of Curiosities - Challenge 13

The challenge at Linda Ledbetter's Compendium of Curiosities III Challenge is to use one of Tim's worn covers as seen on Page 35 of Tim's latest Compendium.  As always, if you wish to join in the challenge, you must work from your own copy of the book and you should not divulge any of the techniques in the book, in your post.  You can obtain a copy of the book from Tim, HERE and it will be signed by Tim himself!

As well as a fabulous parcel of goodies from Tim and Mario to be won by someone chosen by the Curiosity Crew, there is also a an amazing $50 voucher from one of the wonderful Sponsors, Inspiration Emporium to be won by a randomly selected individual.

So, on to my entry...... I did not have a lot of time this month and so I went at my worn cover project a bit like a bull in a china shop and was not happy with the result.  However, as I have entered all of the challenges so far I did not want to miss this opportunity, so I put it away for a day and then came back to it and ended up with this:
I am hoping Tim will continue with his tags next year and I am ahead now with my storage for the 12 tags!  I used Tim Holtz Idea-ology Resist paper pad which has both white and Kraft resist pages.   I used stars for the outside and a dot fade resist for the inside.  This is my first time of using these papers, I chose the Kraft resist and sprayed both pages with Broken China and Picked Raspberry Distress Spray Stains, two gorgeous colours.  I love that 'sprayed' look and the fact that the Kraft still shows through and the resist elements do not take the colour.

I added a Picture Wheel, a Chevron On the Edge, a Pointed Finger (Mini Movers and Shapers) - the finger actually moves and can be rotated around the number of months.  The 2015 is from the WordPlay die.
Countdown Charms were added to the side, hung from some Idea-ology fasteners, together with a Remnant Rub and waste from the Chevron die.
The back is simple,, just a few Remnant Rubs and more Chevron.  I think this paper pad is my new favourite, it takes colour really well.
Here is a close-up of the charms I added, I used 'embrace imperfection' as that is what I did with this challenge!  The arrow has had a hole punched in it.  I did this by using Tim's mini Drill Punch - it is a fantastic and easy to use gadget.
Inside I created two pockets to hold spare tags, added a dozen of the Pocket Pages and put a plain tag into each, all ready for next year.

I have not shown you my disastrous original cover but, needless to say, I am much happier now that I have covered up my mistakes - embrace the imperfection, as Tim would say.  Simple, understated and using my favourite colours, I am happy with the result now!

Thanks for looking, thanks for your comments and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Hugs, Anne xx

  35. What a gorgeous USEFUL book you have made here! I love it! Thank you, Anne, for your sweet comment about the winners and pinworthies on AVJ Heavy Metal. So kind of you, and what a fun time creating for that! Wish I had time to do TO DIE FOR, but it doesn't look like it's in the cards this time! Sara Emily

  36. Here I am trying to do some catching up on my favourite blogs and look at what I have missed! You are clever to plan ahead to 2015 (although frightening to consider it is not too far away). I like that you have a pocket for the blank tags.
Wonderfully embellished, it shows your attention to detail.

  38. I'm not sure what you are not happy with on this project, it looks pretty awesome to me! (In fact I just added a Redanne Project to my Pinterest boards so I could pin this one!). Love your spray colors - I'm trying to get some of these products. Love all your clock faces, the chevron die shape at the bottom and those delicious little charms that you always manage to have 'just the right one' to compliment your particular project. What a beautiful storage for your tags. I really liked the 'worn' look of the cover. TFS (and yes, Karen was very personable and I enjoyed meeting her - what a fantastic creative mind she must have to design these intricate dies. The class was fun, but a bit overwhelming. I am going to be busy trying to view lots of youtubes to remind me what I was supposed to learn!!! LOL) Happy Sunday, and TFS.

  40. This is so super cool, Annie! You are a magician with those new sprays! They must be easier on your wrists than the sponging, huh? They are incredible and so are all those charms! At first glance your awesome tag album reminded me of an old-fashioned telephone that used to hang on the wall with the ear-piece hanging off the side. Of course, I am a bit jet-lagged so that could explain it. In any event, I love it!! Awesome job, as ever!! Hugs, Darnell xxoo

You are on an amazing creative roll. Nicola x
