Inspiration Emporium - Exciting News!

I am so thrilled and excited to be able to tell you, I have been invited to join the Inspiration Journal Team at Inspiration Emporium!!  They already have a talented and very inspiring group of designers with a wonderful and eclectic mix of styles to suit all tastes and interests.  My lovely friend Kath Stewart is also going to be part of the team.   I am so pleased to be joining them!  I hope you can find a moment to go over and see the team and welcome the newbies.

A new challenge has started at Inspiration Journal called 'Fall is in the Air' and there is a very generous $50 prize for one lucky winner to spend at the Inspiration Emporium's online shop.

This is going to be another exciting journey for me, hence the sentiment on my card below.

I recently went to see my dear friend Jenny (Buttons) demoing for one of the companies that she designs for and she demoed a background made with chalky paints.  I do not have those chalky paints but I thought I would try it with Tim Holtz Distress Paints and it worked!

I took some cut and dry foam and using the white side, dabbed into Tim Holtz Distress Paints, doing one colour at a time. I used three colours and I gently dabbed the card until the card was covered.  It takes a gentle touch and a little time but it is really worth it!  I covered two pieces of card using the same method and colours.

The colours I used are Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon and Fired Brick, the combination gives a wonderful warm Autumnal tone and fits nicely into the latest challenge of Fall is in the air.

I embossed the first piece of card using the Springtime Background Texture Fade,  it took two passes but if you are careful, the join does not show too much.  I did go over the embossing with Gathered Twigs DI using a blending tool. This really highlights the text nicely.

For the second piece of card I used the background stamp from Tim Holtz's Papillon set of stamps, using Vintage Photo Distress Ink, covering the whole of the card.  I mounted this onto an 8" x 8" black card base.

For the topper I die cut 'enjoy the journey' from black and also cream card and offset the two before adding to the card.  I did the same with the Eiffel Tower die cut.  I coloured some vintage ribbon with the same three colours of DP, I die cut the fleur-de-lis from shrink plastic and added this to the ribbon with a jump ring, to finish off the card.

The items I used to make my card can be purchased from Inspiration Emporium.  As part of the  Inspiration Team I am very pleased to tell you that if you use my code Redanne you will receive a 10% discount on products you buy.  Postage rates in the USA are $5 and the International Rate is just $10!  I really hope you will take advantage of the discount!

Thanks for looking, I hope to see you again on Monday when I will be back with a Guest Design Spot.  Hugs, from a very happy Anne xx

  1. What?? I get to be first??? I'm so thrilled for you, Annie, and so thrilled for IO, too, because it's a great match from both points of view! You are so extremely talented and you are so good at showing just how you use the products to their best advantage, which is a real positive asset for the IO!!

I love the thoughtful and intelligent way you approach creating your works of art. Don't have chalky paint? Hmmm, you think: I know, I'll use my inks! And wow, did you ever!!
You, my dear, inspire us with your innovation and smarts as much as you do with your final museum-quality pieces! Hugs, Darnell

  42. Congratulations on your newest assignment and somebody picked wisely! I love what you did on these backgrounds, and appreciate the explanation. This is the first I've heard of the chalk paints, but you've achieved a beautiful background with the paints. I will have to try this, as I have the supplies!(So again thanks). The script on the background was so pretty, and the black Eiffel Tower & your black trim against that fallish background really sparkled. A truly wonderful card. TFS & Hugs. Can't wait to see what you share on this team, Miss Anne.

  50. What wonderful news--for you and for us...we will get to see all your lovely work. This piece is incredible. I love how you offset the die cuts with the contrasting colors to get a shadow affect, a trick we used to do with alpha stickers, but never thought to do it with die cuts! The colors are fabulous and so is the paint job, the ribbon--ALL of it! Thank you for sharing with us!
