I have something a little different today, it is a gift for a friend.
I loved reading Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll, when I was a child. My favourite bit is where the White Rabbit, dressed in a lovely waistcoat, runs along at the side of Alice. He pulls out a pocket watch, exclaims that he is late and then pops down a rabbit hole.......
I have had these images of Alice for a little while now, from Nicecrane and recently had the opportunity to get them out, colour one of them and make a journal page for a friend. I have two friends called Mo and this is the friend who does not have a blog, she is better known as TwinkleToes. Last year Mo did a year long challenge with the Craft Barn which used letters, words and definitions. She put all the pages into a journal. Mo sent me her journal to have a look at, it was beautiful and I made her a journal page using the letter T for time for her to add to the journal if she wished.
I did not see the need to explain what the word time means, I think White Rabbit says it all. I added a Prima pocket watch with the word time inside and added a Prima glass bead which magnifies the word nicely. The watch has been coloured gold with alcohol ink and finished off with Treasure Gold, White Fire. I did a little stenciling in the background and the pattered tea party paper is from the Alice collection by Graphic 45.
The image was black and white and you can find this and many, many more wonderful images, both black and white and fully coloured from Nicecrane HERE.
The image I used is from the Colouring Alice Volume 1 which you can find HERE.
I gave the White Rabbit a different colour of jacket, I really love this image and it was so easy to colour with Promarkers, Copics and Prismacolour pencils. I coloured him twice and then layered up one of the images to give him some dimension.
If you are a fan of Alice in Wonderland, Ignacio at Nicecrane has lots of wonderful images in this series.
Thank you for looking. Take care if you are being affected on either side of the world by the dreadful weather. Hugs, Anne xx

Totally brilliant Anne, his face just screams 'quelle horreur'! Love the way you have coloured his attire. The stencilling excellently depicts him shooting rapidly down the hole, very clever. Really love the pocket watch and the glass magnifier is terrific. I have some of those little 'knobs' too, must put them to use. I'm sure Mo is thrilled with this page, her journal must be fab.

ReplyDeleteLove the pocket watch you added and I too love that special passage of the story. We had a record we used to listen to as kids, where I loved that part the most because of the rabbit's voice sounding so very worried.
Your lovely make brought back this memory. Thank you!
Hugs,

This will be a stunning addition to your friend's journal. Love this NC image, and your coloring is lovely. You always find the best embellishments to add as a finishing touch and this is no exception. I'm getting Ignacio's new birds. You did him proud with this sweet Alice image. TFS & Happy Sunday. Hugs
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I just love this card (and I don't even like Alice in Wonderland!). I especially like the pocket watch and the wonderful colors. Betsy at PaperCalliope.com
ReplyDeleteYou had me at the theme! Love the rabbit image, but that little pocket watch is perfection!
ReplyDeleteI do love your 'Time' page Anne, even though like Betsy, I don't like Alice in Wonderland. It was a book I read 2 or 3 times as a child because everyone else seemed to like it and I thought I was odd because I just found it the stuff of bad dreams, lol! However, with your page I can ignore the Alice connection and just appreciate the artistic skill which is lovely.

I love what you have done in Mo's book Anne it looks really good and I know she is thrilled to bits with it. Xx
ReplyDeleteThis is just fabulous, Anne. Love your extra clock and the way you've colored this sweet image.
ReplyDeleteSaw your beautiful White Rabbit over at Nice Crane, and said "Wow" again! Wonderful image, marvelous design on your work too! The fish sandwich was quite good, and our relatives seemed to enjoy their food too. (Not always the case LOL). Then we had a delicious ice cream dessert, came home, stuffed tummies - didn't have to fix any dinner. Took a long nap after getting an early shower!!! What a pleasant afternoon. oh yes, it was sunny & warm too. We're expecting some more cold stuff. Hugs
ReplyDeleteThis is just wonderful, brilliant colouring
ReplyDeleteRosie x
Fabulous - you just reminded me I need to do an Alice tag quickly. Mine will not be a patch on yours. Great use of colour and great imagery.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet xx
Anne, you've made a lovely Journal page for your friend Mo, the colours you used give it a very 'vintage' look and the image really captures the word 'time' perfectly. I'm taken with the tea pot and cups paper, and love the pocket watch charm too. I'm sure your friend will be delighted with your journal page because it's gorgeous, but mainly because it's made by her friend!
ReplyDeleteHugs

Having such good friends, a bonus if they are crafters as well, is everything Anne. Making something for a friend gives so much pleasure and Mo will undoubtedly treasure this page forever. Fabulous piece and also the subject of time.
