Tim's tag for December is, I think, my most favourite one this year. I cannot think of a better marriage than Tim's Frosted Film and Wendy Vecchi's Clearly for Art! This tag was such fun and the resulting flower is just stunning. To see Tim's original you can go HERE.
Without further ado, here is my effort:
I actually loved Tim's tag so much that I didn't want to do anything different, although sadly, I do not yet have the sentiment stamp that Tim used and I did improvise by using a Stampendous stamp. Other than that I followed Tim's tutorial exactly. If you want further details then please have a look at Tim's link above.
Here is a close up of the gorgeous flower and you can just see a hint of the stencilling I did in the background, using Tim's star stencil.

And now for something a little different. I think you know how much I love using Tim's new skate die, I have made lots of cards with it this year and will never tire of using it. My lovely blog friend Angela (if you have not looked at her blog before, I hope you will, she is a very talented lady) put a note on my blog telling me of some Dutch friends she has, who have a very old pair of brown leather skates. Well that got 'the little grey cells' awakened and then they went into overdrive! I don't have any leather but I do have a pack of Tim's Kraft Glassine so I did some experimenting and this is the result (click on the photos for a closer look):
I did a couple of attempts which did not work, the Kraft Glassine on it's own is not strong enough to put laces through so I used some double sided adhesive sheets. I screwed up and crumpled up the Glassine, put some double sided adhesive sheets on the back and then attached this to some Kraft card stock and bingo - it was strong enough to take the laces.
I used a white base card, matted and layered with some more Kraft card. The top layer is some patterned paper from my stash and I randomly stencilled over the top with Tim's Dot Fade stencil. I added the Merry Christmas from the Simple Sayings stamp set and some greenery in the corner from the Festive Greenery strip die.
To make the heel and the blade of the skate I did this on white card, coloured the heel with Wendy Vecchi Potting Soil Archival ink (my current favourite) and covered the blade with Treasure Gold in Pewter.
To age the faux leather of the skates I took a piece of cut and dry foam and randomly brushed Potting Soil Archival ink over the skate. I am really pleased with the result, in real life it does look like aged leather.
Thank you for looking and in the event that I do not post again before Christmas, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy and healthy New Year! Thank you all for being such wonderful and caring and supportive blog friends. Big hugs, Anne xxx

ReplyDeleteHi Anne, well my list has disappeared too, as have others by the look of it, so must be a blogger problem. If memory serves me correctly, I think it happened before. Anne, my blog followers disappeared also- 2 nights ago I think. This delicate tag is so very lovely with the dainty poinsettia. This little flower looks so real! Love this tag! Then I got to the skates. Again another Oh My Goodness! I thought the cream pair were gorgeous, but this pair looked so much like real leather. Your experiments with the glassine worked wonders, and just think now of all the things you can use this technique for (luggage?!). Both of these are marvelous & tfs. So happy for you that you felt well enough to get some crafts done. Merry Christmas & many hugs
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming your followers are back - they appear right on your side bar for me. anyway - love your tag - its absolutely beautiful - but I love the faux leather on the boots more than anything ..... it looks amazing! You're so very clever xx
ReplyDeleteHi Anne, Those leather ice skates are amazing, I cant believe how like real leather the glassine looks and I love the delicate stamping of the stars and the poinsettia on your tag. Thank you for a lovely meet up again yesterday, have a lovely Christmas, see you in the New Year. Hugs Mo x
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!! I love your version of Tim's tag (great improvisation) and totally understand why it's your favourite. And then, oh my goodness, those brown suede skating boots!! Ingenious, gorgeous, vintage perfection, I could go on and on. You my friend are a creative genius. Where you lead others will definitely follow. Huge hugs, Jenny xxx
ReplyDeleteOh these are both fabulous Anne. I love the gentleness of your tag (those little subtle stars are so pretty) and how pretty the flower is. It's very beautiful. Then your skate card is fabulous - and makes for such a different card entirely compared to the white. Well done for perseverence - the sufficiently thick faux leather looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Anne, I have lost all my followers today too, and I honestly don't think I've done anything to upset them. Fingers crossed they will reappear tomorrow,
Nicola xx
Popping back Anne - I noticed my followers have delightfully reappeared. Any so have yours!! Nite nite, Nicola x
ReplyDeleteOh my, Anne! You are so incredibly clever, that is a fabulous pair of skates and the tag is beautiful.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...impossible to choose a favourite...these are both stunning. This is a gorgeous tag. That flower is perfection. BTW, I like your sentiment stamp on this tag!!!
ReplyDeleteNow the boots...Wow! The kraft glassine is perfect for this. Think of all the things you can do with this technique. The skates are superb and I really like the DP behind them which looks like hessian.
I'm sorry I'm a little late in visiting, Annie. Except for my WOYWW post, I locked myself in my Playhouse the last couple of days to finish my cards. Last night I cleaned it all and, man, does that ever feel good!! But that's enough about me, let's talk about me. Today I'm finally baking. Oh, okay, we'll talk about you.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, that tag just stuns me! The poinsettia looks like it is made out of crystal sugar and intended for eating! You know I don't do Tim, but I have to say I especially love this feminine and fragile design. Your sediment is perfect!!
Secondly, please, it's hard to believe that you did not fussy-cut those skates out of an old piece of leather!. They look SO real! Tim should be CASEing you on this one! I love them; I also love the white ones with the perfect shading you did, too.
You are one seriously talented lady and I'm so delighted to call you my friend! Happy, Happy Holidays to you and David!! Mistletoe kisses and hugs, Darnell
Love your Tim tag Anne, it's a fabulous take and those skates are simply delicious looking. You are so inventive and creative.
