Hello Friends
This is a scheduled post as I am off on my holidays, visiting my Son and doing a spot of 'chicken sitting' and enjoying some family celebrations. I did my tag a week ago but wanted to post something whilst I was away.
Of all Tim's tags I found this to be the most challenging, we do not celebrate 4th July here in the UK but we do have troops abroad, like many other countries, so I wanted to create something to celebrate our heroes, on both sides of the Atlantic. My own lovely Brother spent nearly 40 years in the Canadian navy and saw a lot of action over that time so it is a fitting tribute to him too.
I pretty much followed Tim's recipe for colours and techniques so I won't go into too much detail, as you can see for yourself where the similarities are. You can see Tim's wonderful original HERE.
I had great fun with the brayered background, it works so well and creates the most wonderful finish. I will definitely be using that one again.
The crackle technique with the stain on top looks amazing too, the colours remain so rich and vibrant. I just love this heart and wings!
Of course I had to use the Remnant rubs too and I did a bit of random stamping in the background.
And of course, it would not be me if I did not put a big bow on the top to finish off! Love how the vintage seam binding takes the stains.
Hope you like it! I will be dipping in and out of blogs, as time and internet connections allow whilst I am away, but if I miss you I will try to catch up when I get back in a week or so. In the meantime take care and have lots of fun creating and if you are in the UK hope enjoy our rare Summer!
Big hugs, Anne xx

Still - at least it will be done - I must do them all!! Hope your holiday goes well - big hugs Rachel x

ReplyDeleteHave a fab trip away, Ill look forward to catching up with you when your back x
Do hope you're having a wonderful time away... and in the meantime what a great take on Tim's tag - vibrant and full of texture and detail.

Surely hope you enjoy your time away, with your son, and that you're all recovered well so that you can thoroughly enjoy your holiday. Loved this beautiful red, white & blue tag. I'll zip over to TH to read the specs, but yours is gorgeous. All the elements are so very patriotic, and supportive of the troups, doesn't matter what country they may serve. They all 'serve the world freedoms'. I always enjoy your tags better than TH's (but don't tell 'im I said that!). Hugs & have a good time.
ReplyDeleteLovely tag!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful Anne, your red and blue is so rich and vibrant and the heart and wings a fitting adornment. Love how you used the remnant rubs as well.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your break, have fun chicken sitting and seeing your family, you couldn't have chosen a better time to go.
hugs {brenda} x0x
Hi Anne, what a lovely take on Tim's tag and a great idea! When we were making cards with children for Armed Forces Day a few weeks ago, I was thinking that we should do more of the same for our troops. My Dad was in the Royal Canadian Engineers! Have a fab holiday, shame you don't live nearer you could have come a chicken sat for us when we are away (lol), I hate having to 'board' them (being silly aren't I?!)..enjoy! Carole Z XX
ReplyDeleteWow! Anne, wunderbare Werke hast du inzwischen schon wieder gestaltet.
ReplyDeleteIch komme garnicht nach, mit kommentieren.

ReplyDeleteHope you are thoroughly enjoying your vacation & time with family. Thanks for taking the time to leave such sweet comments! Hugs & hope you are feeling tip-top now.
ReplyDeleteI love how rich and vibrant the colours are on this tag. The heart and wings look like sweeties (candy) and I want to eat them!!! THank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving such a lovely comment - you put me in such a good mood because of it!
ReplyDeleteYour red white and blue looks amazing. I couldn't for the life of me get those wonderful streaky patterns happening, despite several attempts at varying my technique. And your colouring of the crackle makes my attempts look like dishwater, lol. Isn't it funny how the same products in our hands give us such differing results. I'll be taking careful note of how you use your embellishments too now that I've given myself a challenge to use them in something that I make. ;) Your tag turned out great, well done.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the background, especially, and the rubs. Hope your family time was lovely.
ReplyDeleteAnne, I had a chance to visit the rest of your blog and all your work is simply wonderful. I absolutely love this tag, such rich colors and the brayered background is fabulous. I also just became a follower of your blog through both Google and Bloglovin' so I can come back and visit you often.
