Hello Blog Friends and WOYWWers
First up I would like to thank my latest followers, thank you so much for joining me on my crafty journey. If you are looking in and wondering what on earth WOYWW is or why I am showing you my messy desk then please go over and visit our Hostess, Julia, HERE who will explain why crafters from around the world are sharing their desks.
Sorry that I have missed the last couple of weeks but we have the Builders in, building an extension and a new downstairs bathroom. We are in a mess, to say the least and have had to go out to get away from the noise and dust - it will all be worth it in the end though and we are really looking forward to that day (in about 4 weeks time).
Anyway, here is my desk today, click on the photo for a clearer view:
Lots of things, my box of ready made flowers, some lace, a fish picture, lots of bits and pieces. In the back are my new Tim Distress Paints, my latest love! On the shelf is a canvas and a couple of poppy tags I made for some friends.
When I last joined in WOYWW I was expecting Granddaughter 2 (she is 5) and we were drawing and colouring in fish. The frame in the middle, with the fish is a duplicate of the one I made for her. Here is a close up.
I am happy with the way this turned out. The frame is coloured with Distress Paints with crackle glaze over the top, the fish is coloured with Distress Stains, the background has been coloured with Distress Paints. The water at the bottom is made using a stencil, embossing paste, perfect pearls and heated until bubbling - love that technique!
That's it from me this week, I look forward to visiting as many of you as possible over the next day or so. Happy WOYWW everyone. Hugs, Anne x
Great looking fish project! Is the grandbabie going to take it home with her? Love the cards on the wall. I am with you on construction. I ended up firing my last worker and now no one wants to touch what he did and didn't finish. Oh well may end up having to have it torn out and done again right this time! Thanks for sharing. Have a great week. Vickie #1
ReplyDeleteDont show that lace to me Anne I will be round pinching it all. Nice to see your pin cushion. All those flowers look gorgeous too, as does the fish you made. Clever lady and granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteWe are making the bobbin pin cushions in 2 weeks at our craft group, have you managed to source any more of the larger ones Anne ?

Love your framed fish Anne, he has a cheeky look on his face. I have some tiny flowers on my desk as well, going to add some to the card I'm making, but you beat me on volume.

ReplyDeleteHi Anne, What a lovely desk you have this week, I am not taking part this week but I am sure I will have twice as much to show & tell next week. I really like your fish, your original one was lovely, but this one is a step up again. The texture sea bed and the glitter scales on the fish really give a lovely depth to the project. Poppy tags that would match your previous card are pretty everybody loved that poppy card! I spy another pin cushion on your desk, mine is being put to good use storing my crafty stick pins on my desk. Hugs Mo x

How sweet is that fish and the memories that go along with it! I am loving the distress paints. I am in dire need of a bathroom remodel downstairs, and have to get it done. ReplyDeleteAnd the dimensional flowers on the canvas and the poppy tags look simply gorgeous too!
Yes, the packing of the travelling stash is quite a sight to behold - but at least I have the excuse this time that lots of it might be useful for dollshouse renovation (well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!) - managed to restrict myself to 5 boxes (eek), lucky we travel by car across Europe. Don't know what I'll do if it comes to flying...
Happy WOYWW

Great fish art picture, Anne! Love all the toys on your desk. I think I am most in love with the dual level at the back of your desk. Though that would not work here for me. Remodeling sounds interesting. Wish I were doing it here. Someday? Creative Blessings! Kelly #126

Such a cute frame... I LOVE sea, shells and fish! Happy, belated, woyww. Marit #79
ReplyDeleteYour work space looks so organized and tidy...mine is downright scary right now. Love the flower art in the background. That would be inspiring to look at while dreaming up the next creation. Sweet fish in the textured frame. Love the way you did the sand. I haven't tried that. I had to chuckle at your last comment. Can't believe you grew up in Goderich and now I'm in Seaforth and your family lived in Ottawa probably when I did. Small world, indeed!
ReplyDeleteHi Anne,
ReplyDeleteI love your poppy cards; very pretty. Your desk looks very productive. The fish canvas is adorable! And what fond memories it holds for you.
Thank you for visiting me already. I'm slowly getting around.
Happy WOYWW
