Hello Fellow WOYWWers and Bloggers
Well here we are again, another Wednesday, another snoop around craft desks of the world courtesy of your hostess Julia. If you want to join in then please visit Julia's blog HERE for details.
I do not have much to show this week, those of you who follow my blog will know that we have the Builders in, building an extension to the back of our house. Pneumatic drills, diggers, breaking glass etc are not conducive to happy crafting, so we have been out and about quite a lot in the last week. Unfortunately the Builders have discovered a major problem and we now have to have steel 'piles' driven into the ground to hold up the new extension as the ground is unstable, so I guess we are in for another week of noise, noise and more noise! Ah well, it will be worth it in the end..........
However, I did do a mini workshop with a few crafty friends (including Lynn of Doodly Birds) last week and we made pincushions and gift bags. I have already given away the pincushion and bag that I made but on my desk today is the original one and one I have made since last week, as a little gift for a friend. Click on the photo for a better look.
You can also see a few more of Tim Holtz Distress Paints. I got a few more this week because after using them I find that I cannot live without them! They are wonderful to use, very versatile and the colours are amazing..... I rest my case. At the front is a tag and some ATCs that I have used the paints on.
Also, on the right there is a postcard of a fish (under the scissors) which Granddaughter 2 wants me to copy onto a canvas. On the left hand side is a felt kit for aforementioned GD2 who is coming to play in my craft room on Friday - she is 5 but old beyond her years and she loves to craft. The papier mache egg is hopefully going to turn into a hot air balloon - if it works out I will blog it.
Well that's all from me folks, hope you all have a Happy What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday and I look forward to visiting many of you over the next few days. Hugs, Anne xx
Enjoy the time with your GD2 when she comes to stay . Glad she enjoys crafting , she must take after you. Happy woyww , Jill #33
ReplyDeleteHi Anne, I am giggling to myself here as I thought your egg looks like a bread roll! I knew you would not stop at your first batch of paints, but glad you are enjoying them. Dont envy you with all the builders noise but as you said it will be worth it. Hugs Mo x
ReplyDeleteHi Anne
ReplyDeleteThank you for our wonderful workshop last week. I've made another pin cushion and Susan is going to make more bags. Ruth and Susan are taking their pin cushions to show at their Embroiderers Guild meeting tomorrow.
Enjoy yourself on Friday and I hope the building work progresses well
Love Lynn xx
I love the pincushions Anne, really effective. Backgrounds looking good as well, can see I need to try out those paints. If I continue buying like this you will have to send those builders round to my house. Hope all goes well from now own and the work is completed quickly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting , nowhere posh for lunch, just a local garden centre, but we will have a good chat.

I told myself I wasn't going to get the distress paints, but.............!! Hope the builders solve your problems and get the extension finished soon for your sake! Have a great day away from the noise and dust... Helen, 5

ReplyDeleteMy 5 year old GD2 loves to craft too and comes in from school each day, straight out to her mummy's craft room and starts making so I'm really looking forward to my trip there next week.
ReplyDeleteI love your pincushions and might try to make one using all the patchwork leftover gems of fabric.
Your backgrounds are so effective and you are really tempting me to buy. I was trying my best to resist! Look what you've done!

So sorry to hear your hips are like mine and the bed situation does not help. Rotten isn't it? Was just going to invest in a Tempura topper - now with what you say not so sure.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, to your desk. Lovely colours on there. Still got envy of those pincushions - is there a pattern somewhere?
Don't envy you the builders and now the problem of the piles being driven in - this echoes my nightmare of a kitchen build years ago. I moved house!
Thanks for visiting me Anne and happy WOYWW.
Hugs, Neet xx
What an amazing cross section of crafts you have on your desk this week!! Is the fish you have to copy The Rainbow Fish? It looked like it a little bit...I loved those books, so bright and sparkly!
ReplyDeleteRegarding binding of quilts...there are loads of tutorials out there. Putting a straight border on is much easier than bias binding otherwise I wouldn't be doing it! Have a go on your next one :)
Hugs, LLJ 38 xxxx
your desk looks wonderful as usual and those pincushions are beautiful - very envious of your distress paints - I will get there in the end!!! Hope the building is finished in a week Anne - sorry that you've had problems! Hugs Rachel xx

Very Tidy Desk, Anne. I was intrigued at the colored papers under the scissors and can't wait to see these on some projects. I know it will be fantastic. I could see you've been enjoying those TH paints. Still haven't gotten any myself yet. What fun to have a 5 yr old GDtr to come visit you & enjoy some creative playtime. Do post what you all create!
