Tim's Tag November 2012

Hello Everyone

Thought it was about time I got Tim's tag done for November, can't believe how fast this month is going.  The only reason I didn't start it sooner was because I knew that I did not have the stamps he used, so I have been wracking my brain trying to come up with alternatives.

I do enjoy doing these tags because it challenges me and I unashamedly keep to his recipe as much as possible and then go off and use the techniques on other projects, but in my own style.  It is just the way I learn best.  Anyway, here is what I created this month:

As I say, I did everything according to Tim's recipe, except the wheat stamp of Tims was replaced by a stamp from my stash (which I cannot identify) but I thought it looked a bit like wheat.  The words (celebrate with thanks) are by WaltzingMouse stamps (Say it Loud set).  We don't traditionally celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK but we do have Harvest Festival, which some do celebrate and give thanks, hence my wording.

I did have a moment of panic when my little travel iron started smoking as I was doing the resist technique but I was brave and just carried on!  I love the end result and the way it still resists inks even when the embossing has been removed.  Definitely going to do this technique again.  The burlap was gifted to me by a lovely blog friend May, some time ago, I am using it sparingly because I don't want it to run out!

If you do visit I hope you will leave me a comment, I do love to read them all and I will do my best to return the compliment (if I can find you).  Crafty hugs, Anne xx

  1. Love this so much, Anne - it's a wonderful take on the Tim tag, and the mesh makes a beautiful backing for the autumnal gatherings there at the bottom. Beautiful work with the ironing technique - haven't quite dared yet (it's not my iron I'd be using!!)...

  4. You did so very well, Anne it's such a very beautiful tag! Love the gathering of the leaves and how you arranged it with the burlap. The colors are very beautiful, too. The ironing thing scares me off a bit, too, but that doesn't really keep me from trying it again :-)
Have a great day, hugs, Suzanne xx

  11. A wonderful tag Anne and such beautiful colours too, it really has that harvest home feel to it! I think I know the technique you're talking about for the background and it's one of my favourites too, it does something really special with the ink. Great that you found an alternative stamp, I know it's not always easy but sounds like you really enjoyed yourself in the making....that's what it's all about isn't it? Have a lovely Sunday, Chris xx

  13. Your tag is beautiful Anne & your stamp does look like wheat but prettier. I haven't been brave enough to give this technique a go yet but you have inspired me to try. Love hessian and I am using it in a series of my Christmas Stamps this year - just found it a little tricky to stick down!! Sx

  15. Lovely tag Anne, fab colours and I love the stamps you've used. Like you, I love doing the tags each month, but I don't always have the products that Tim's used. It's always fun(!!?!) trying to find alternatives.
We're actually off to celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday. Stephen's company lay on a big meal out for all their staff and families. We went last year and it was so much fun. Traditional US Thanksgiving menu - yummeeeee!!
Thanks for all your lovely comments this week. It's so nice to know that you're with me.
    Enjoy your Sunday. xx

  33. Stunning tag Anne. I really love your autumnal tag and if I did the Tim tags, I think I'd do what you do and stick to the recipe, improvising where needing too - you learn loads that way. (says she who doesn't do Tim tags).
