Hello lovely Bloggers and Followers old and new
The challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge (http://pennybfriendssaturdaychallenge.blogspot.co.uk) this month is Buttons and Bows. I love to do the PB Challenge as I can make use of my gorgeous PB stamps and it gives me the chance to do something pretty (which I still love doing) and this is my entry:
For ages now I have seen pieces of work where people stamped onto fabric and used stitching, so I thought I would have a go. The Penny Black image 'fireworks' is stamped onto crinoline fabric that I obtained from The Funkie Junkie (see the new address in the link) in America. It is quite stiff fabric and so easy to stamp on using black Archival Ink.
I coloured the flowers in with Tim Holtz Distress Markers in Chipped Sapphire for the flower heads and Forest Moss for the leaves. I dusted off my sewing machine and stitched the fabric to some white card and then inked the edges with Chipped Sapphire DI. I matted this onto plain white cardstock and I coloured the ribbon with Chipped Sapphire DI and added this. The card is 8" x 8" and I took some Chipped Sapphire Coredinations card stock, cut out two mats and layered them as shown.
To finish off I added a Hero Arts sentiment and three buttons in a toning blue with some blue and white Bakers twine threaded through.
If you do visit I hope you will leave me a comment, I love to read them all and will always try to return the compliment. Happy Crafting! Crafty hugs, Anne xx

Morning Anne, this is simply beautiful. I love your colour choice. Your stamping onto fabric looks great and the stitching is the perfect finishing touch. I'm currently on the lookout for a sewing machine, haven't used one for years, but I love the look of stitching on cards, it's so pretty. Have a great weekend. xx

ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Anne, I love the colours and the stamping onto fabric looks lovely, well done stitching too. I'm still too lazy to do this but maybe I just need to invest in a proper machine to help (my daughter had a toy one which works, yes I did keep it when she outgrew it to see if it would and I've used it a couple of times on my cards, lol)

This is really awesome, Ann. And inspirational - I have pinned it to refer back to for CASEing. It's perfectly balanced and I love the blue. I think I will be dusting off my very old machine and trying this out, thanks!!
ReplyDeleteHi Anne,
ReplyDeleteThis card is amazing! I wonder if crinoline is like cheesecloth (although cheesecloth isn't stiff). Just beautiful.
Yes, Lynn is a sweetie. I wanted to make a potholder before sharing her gift but time was dragging and my sewing machine hadn't moved!
I don't see my pic as a follower -- will have to check that out.
Hugs,
Kay

Hi hun. Just catching up with posts from the weekend (kids + homework/OH + work = PC and laptop monopolised!) It's always clear when you've had fun doing a project and this is one of those:) Love the image and the stamping onto the crinoline material is perfect. Looks like it doesn't bleed at all. Good job on the sewing too. Looking forward to your next post already. Hugs, Buttons x
