Sizzix Maker Challenge - Eileen Hull

Have you seen the Sizzix Maker Challenge?  You can find it HERE.  There is a fabulous prize on offer for a lucky winner!  All you need to do is use Eileen Hull's House Pocket Stitchlits die (Sizzix 661902) and add Stitchy Flowers & Leaf die (Sizzix 661903) and Birds & Butterflies die (Sizzix 661901).  You don't have to use the second two but if you can, so much the better!

I made a 3D log cabin!  As a child we spent two weeks each summer on Manitoulin Island in Canada and we always stayed in the same log cabin.  It was a little basic with no electricity, a wood stove and an ice box which cooled food using huge blocks of ice, but it was such fun!
I used some Kraft card and also some corrugated packaging card to form my base, all cut using the House Pocket die.
To make the cabin 3D I used Eileen's 'Make it 3D' die which gives a more realistic look to the cabin as it gives it some dimension.
I used the House Pocket die and also the Stitchy Flowers and Leaf die (with shrink plastic to make my teeny flowers and leaves) and the Birds & Butterflies die (to make the little butterfly from shrink plastic). I attached a piece of wire to each flower before shrinking them, to give me a stem to hold the flowers up in the little boxes I created from corrugated card.  The flowers were coloured using Alcohol markers.  I added a little pile of 'logs' to the side of the cabin.
Here is the prize, which includes Eileen's fabulous Journal die:
You can see more details of the challenge here:
and here:

You have got to be in it to win it!!

And just to show the versatility of the House Pocket die, here is another idea, I made a pin cushion for CHA 2017, when the die first came out.  I used Kunin Felt and hand stitched the edges.
It would be lovely to see you join in the Sizzix Maker Challenge!  I had great fun making my projects....

Hugs, Anne xx

  11. I love hearing about your childhood vacations on the island. As a child, I bet it was so fun, but perhaps a little harder on your parents, I presume. But no doubt the entire family loved these precious few weeks to be together!

I love how you were inspired by your stay in the cabin to make this little treasure! How creative to shrink your flowers down--they are precious! The details on this are phenomenal! Love those 'log' walls, too--genius idea to use corrugate board! Sending hugs!

PS Thank you for the head's up on aallandcreate! I did see that, but had forgotten about it already! Oops! I think I had put it out of my mind because I thought I may not get to all the challenges by the end date. What's your take on that? Do you think one has to enter all the challenges? Thank you, again, Anne for your lovely words on my layout!

  22. Your log cabin is adorable, Anne. The corrugations in the card make for some real authentic looking logs and all the extra touches and attention to detail- the flower boxes and cute little flowers , the logs at the side of the cabin, the number plate all add real charm and character . Fabulous creativity .

It gives this little cabin in the woods a very wonderful vibe, and dang it if those flowers aren't the perfected finishing touch! Totally blown away here! Awesome sauce and fantabulous Red!
